Not an attractive watch to start with. Pretty soon, they have to make LE of the LE to keep up with monthly limited edition releases...

Pretty sure they already did that with the Japanese Olympic models 馃槈

I just wonder apart from SpeedyTuesday there are other 6 days left to be grabbed by 6 other popular watch brands, in association with one of the watch blog!
Seiko Saturday and Shinola Sunday? Mille Monday?

I am not sure how charging up front does anything to deter flippers. The regular flippers have no trouble laying out $6,500 for a few months.

At this rate the standard, modern hesalite Speedy will become the "limited edition".

Probably. But when you talk about 'netting' a dollar amount it means what you cleared after costs. Hodinkee did not 'net' $3.5 mil. What they net will likely be in a few hundred thousand dollars.

Hmm...so Omega pays Hodinkee to celebrate Hodinkee's 10 years and makes a watch for them as well...

??? If this operated like the PCA Speedy LE, then chances are Omega made the watches for Hodinkee for $xxxx/ each, and Hodinkee 'nets' the $6,500 - $xxxx - their expenses and shipping costs, etc. Not sure what you are saying/ asking.

Interesting, but I think I will wait for the OmegaForums special edition 馃檮

Omega allowed the military aircrew to custom order the X-33 with a custom case back.

I would lobby for an OF Speedmaster LE with a case back that allows us to have our sub heading engraved on the case back.

Should be a limited edition to the number of members that are currently on OF with 200 or more posts.

It'll have a special edition strap made out of squirrel hide, and a convex crystal that makes it really hard to focus on the dial...

Precisely! Instead of buying the Ultraman, i bought the hesalite regular one. I am sure in term of numbers it is a more rare LE than the rest. Just count how many LE are there in the range of Speedmasters only. Pulsometer, Ultraman, Tokyo 2020, Hodinkee - more than 15 000 pcs! And surely i missed some.

Or acknowledged how Fratello and hodinkee have been instrumental in the continued success of Omega. Abtw will not be getting one. I doubt hodinkee is making much money on these.

That a great point there where at least 10 MOD backed SMP variants ...

I often search autotrader for used cars (911, M4, etc) and I could easily modify your comment slightly for what I find regularly...

Man, that's an ugly leather interior! Porsche/BMW going overboard with all these leather options. Other people obviously disagree with me, as the cars were bought new at prices much higher than I'm seeing them sold for in the used market. Shocking that Porsche/BMW (et al) take the same damn car body and think they can sell with so many different combinations of body and interior colour combinations... the nerve of those companies, trying to sell more units by varying their visual aspects slightly... 馃槈

And regarding BMW, yes they went overboard. Just look at BMW M3 CS, Avus/Telesto series for the M3/M4 (google that one if you don't know it), BMW M3 30 years, ... etc. All with the same current M3 model.

I have a box of crayons. When do I get to design a Speedmaster that makes no sense.

Oh and on the X-33, the buyer (Military Member) had to agree they would not sell the watch for 6 years (could have been 5, I cant recall).
