500 watches, split 50:50 between Hodinkee and Omega boutiques.
Hodinkee's stock is completely sold out.
Omega put a hard limit on how many watched each boutique could request.
As of Thursday noon (EST) there are still available watches through curtain boutiques...
Probably <30.
A 50% deposit will be required.

Just got a call from the Boutique I frequent. Says there are 3 left. So it's been more than 24 hours and they haven't been able to sell out 500 watches, while the Ultraman took what, 45 minutes to sell 2,000?

Oh, and you know if they're calling me, they're desperate 🙄

Not really comparable. I'm sure if this release had been entirely online it'd have sold out in 45 minutes yesterday. Also, with this release half of them required full payment and the other half a nice deposit, not just a reservation.

You're overthinking things, it's clear that the sub-dial wants to be an aeroplane and the sub-dial hand is doing an impersonation of a propeller 🙄
An aeroplane pulling a very hard turn to starboard!

Good idea. My grandfather used to enjoy eating pizzas. So I would be emotionally satisfied to wear a red speedmaster (tomato) with creamy subdials (cheese) and black numerals (olives).
Mmmm....pizza. With anchovies for the hands?

OK, that's probably true

LOL. So Hodinkee are "honoring" themselves? 🤦 And "Speedy Tuesday" releases aren't right?

🤦 indeed. If you can't see the difference in the actual watches the Speedy Tuesday and Hodinkee collabs have produced, you might want to have another look. The difference is clear as day to me and obviously to others.

Why? No need to buy... They do keep the vintage ones high on everyone's radar screen, which isn't bad.

Mainly because I don't have enough money to buy them all despite wanting them all. 😁

Omega can do whatever they like, but I do have to laugh at all of these "limited editions." Full disclosure: I own a 60th anniversary speedy in addition to my pro. Honestly, I'd rather one of two options become available (or both): one, offer individual customizations where possible (i.e., allow us to pick from a few bezels, dials, straight or twisted lugs, etc) and/or two, allow groups, if a minimum $ is met, to customize their own watch (much like purchasin a private barrel of whisky). I'd personally love an OF-specific speedy (don't call it an LE!).

I'm absolutely certain, with computer aided manufacture and improvements in manufacture through 3D printing, this will be a reality in the future. Of course, it will cost a pretty penny because in the pursuit of profits the value add will that watch companies will still offer hand finishing or hand assembly.

You clearly said they were "honoring themselves" which is utterly ridiculous and laughably hypocritical considering your comments on the Speedy Tuesday releases. Now I personally am smart enough to know that in both cases neither of them are "honoring themselves". Still were I to actually think that I'd still be able to see that both watches should then be called that. The similarity is clear as day to myself and obviously to others.

I'll just agree to disagree. If you like the idea of wearing a watch that pays direct tribute to someone you've never met, his grandfather, and his website, and you don't count that as honoring himself/his family/his website (when the entire point of the watch is to celebrate his website's anniversary, which is the very definition of paying tribute to yourself just like it is with any product commemorating something), fair enough. If you think that is the same as the Speedy Tuesday watches, again I'll just agree to disagree. Not going to belabor it anymore. Have a good day.

I won't be wearing the watch. That said, if you simply think that it's a tribute to someone, their grandfather and a website and can't see that it's obviously also a tribute to an Omega MK 40 Speedmaster as it's been clearly stated I'll agree to disagree. If you can't see that the Speedy Tuesday releases are just like this H10 release in that they're a tribute to a hashtag that someone personally created to celebrate the anniversary of that hashtag (when the entire genesis of the watch was to celebrate the anniversary of the hashtag which to quote you "is the very definition of paying tribute to yourself just like it is with any product commemorating something"), fair enough. At the end of the day one is a direct tribute to a website that someone created, that same person being part of the creation of said tribute, while the other is a direct tribute to a hashtag that someone created, that same person being part of the creation of said tribute. I would say calling out on out for that while giving pass to the other is again laughably hypocritical and it seems very clear to me that the reason for that is that you don't like one of the watches but rather like the other which for some odd reason keeps you from being balanced in your assessment of them as tribute pieces. At least that's my conservative take on it, though I suspect there's more to it.

Calm down and have an espresso, as Archer recommended! No need to put so much emotions! Be friends and thus easily truth will reveal itself!

I think you are missing the important point that the ST1 and for that matter 2 offered something you can't otherwise buy (easily or cheaply) and are tributes, homages whatever to something made of Unobtanium. The H10 is a dashed off paint job based on a mainstream watch still widely available and not remotely important or interesting horologically, historically or whatever-ally. The fact that it is a pastiche of features and functions it doesn't and can never have is unforgivable in my eyes. Is this how Hodinkee want to be seen, like the Emporer's new clothes?

Now the Flightmater, the design of which the Mk40 in question was based, on probably does warrant a re visit, perhaps in a less ungainly and fat case but the Mk40 didn't exactly set the world alight the first time so why bother?
