Judging from the responses, I'm not sure which is more polarizing: Buzz's ass at 9, or the fact that the watch us two-toned?
What is polarizing is the price for many.

Your choice.

Yes it is, but thanks for reminding me...

All kidding aside, I actually think it’s quite an attractive watch and will appeal to many people who like gold detailing in their watches.

The contrasting colour of the dial and sub-dials looks really sharp, IMO. The dial colour in general looks fantastic in many of the hands-on pics I’ve seen.

Yes, the sub-dial image could have been better chosen, but on-wrist, I imagine it will melt away (being quite small when viewed from a normal distance) and the overall package will look great.

Congrats to those picking one up. Nice of Omega to make enough of them so that someone who wants one can get one at MSRP.

People are hung up on the price, if they offered this at $5350 people would be all over it like a rash. They can't rationalize the far better movement, the design elements (bracelet, pushers, dial, back), NIAID caseback, gold, packaging and the occasion. It is what it is. Omega will sell everyone of these.
I know! Either that or they can’t take change really well. Some people are so hung up on old times, memories of watches they had or wished they had and would like the new ones to look like those. I think that they don’t realize that those vintage watches now are special and unique because they were different when they came out. I know there is a market for that niche and pieces like in the Trilogy but not everything has to look like old times.

And some appear that they can't accept that other simply have different tastes and like different things, so they try to tell those who don't appreciate this model that they:

1 - can't afford it
2 - can't keep with the changing times
3 - can't accept change

I know it might be hard for some of you who love this watch to understand, but the only reason I'm not buying this is because I don't like it.

I have both modern and vintage watches, so it's not anything to do with always liking "old times" and not liking new things...

If you like it, and can get one, then I'm truly happy for you...but please understand not everyone likes two tone, cluttered dials, etc.

The price is what it is. There is nothing polarising about it. If people really like it then they will buy it at 10k or 5k or 500 dollars. If they don t then they wont.

I think the subdial is a bit cluttered and think Omega should have done something else, maybe the one @JPE.88305 suggested. But one problem with any image is the running seconds hand right in the middle of the image...

My OB just called and asked if I wanted one. Haven't called him back. I don't want one.

Strongly agree, there’s a lot of choices of limited edition speedmasters, and this one is not at the top of my list.

A great post. I like it, but don’t mind if others do not.

I made a side-by-side to help me visualize the differences. The scale is slightly off, but you get the idea. The Speedy Pro is just a handsome watch to me. Both are cool tho. If you could only have one and price didn't matter?

My money on the Apollo.
I personally found the modern speedy a little too "cold" for my taste.

First thing that came to mind when I saw the pics this morning:

Nope.

I know, who cares.

That's fine.

I only care that I don't like it, not that you do or don't.

The more I look at it, the more I realize I prefer the ST2 Ultraman and the Apollo 17 45th over the Apollo 11 50th. I don't dislike it. The dial just looks a little too busy for me.

Give them the courtesy of a phone call so they can call the next person on the list.
