I know a few who have totally shut down on interest on the 50th due to the price.
One had waited a few years and is already looking elsewhere.

I may be proven wrong, but getting a Speedmaster with the new 321 for $10K might be wishful thinking.
Very wishful!

Very unlikely. The only watches that are limited are the LEs. I thought the Apollo 8 DSOTM might be a watch that would follow a boutique only distribution and a possible Rolex sports model pricing trajectory...but nope it seems to be readily available and even below retail pricing.
I have not seen the Apollo 8 in the boutique or the AD here in San Antonio. This might be only in big markets.

They don't communicate because of the embargo, the quickest way to get shut out in the future is to start leaking.

They had a couple but they were already sold.

Athough this is what Raynald Aschlimann said in January…

Yup. Happened to my grandad. Forced him to bypass assisted living and go straight to a nursing home...

Right. Not embargo material of course, but just SOMETHING … 😉

Like what, the weather in Switzerland, color of the walls at the events, pics of the good looking chicks? How will that make you a better informed customer or collector? I'd rather they keep their head down, write their copy with pictures and analysis of the watches, and release all this stuff at 8am Friday Swiss time.

Where, San Antonio boutique? As far as I know they only had the ones with deposits on them but were picked up. Nothing really on display for sale for regular walk ins.

Yep...and I'm curious to know if they had to sign NDAs. I bet the penalty for leaking is so tremendous that people wouldn't dare!

Maybe no big markets per say but it is not like you and find one in every other store. I have not seen one on display. Again, it seems that there are some in other areas of the world. Some in the forum mentioned in another tread that he saw a few, I believe in england.

I just want to know what’s gonna happen with the 1861, hesalite, steel caseback version. Will it have a co-axial? Will there be a 321 version that’s not five figures? Will it be changed at all? This rollout has gotten me antsy and ready to pull the trigger on something I know than something unknown...

Even if the regular Speedmaster is discontinued they will still be available until the pipeline runs dry. The 321 is not going to appear any time soon, if ever, for anything under $10k. People are wishing for this but not likely to happen. Wait until Friday and if you see things discontinued then go out to your dealer and buy the 1861 Hesalite. You'll have time.

I’m in the same boat as you. I was going to pull the trigger on the hesalite steel caseback version this year. All this recent news makes me wonder if I should pull it sooner rather than later.

There is a somewhat logical reason for the Friday embargo. Journalists were split into three groups with each group given a different itinerary for each day to visit various factories. The Friday embargo allows all journalists the time to see all the watches and then everyone can post things on the same day. If it were a free for all, only one third of the journalists would have seen the Omega watches after the first day etc.

Of course this is because they have to tour them around a bunch of different venues. If only there was some sort of venue or event where the journalists could have seen all the watches under one roof on a single day... 😉
