I got the same takeaway from that video

Gold moon for sub seconds?

Would be beautiful! But all speak of a LEM and not a moon...

Or maybe, just maybe, the box is a moon, with a gold man inside it too...

Or

Has some lunar landscape somewhere inside, with a footprint, that matches the gold astronaut in the box

Or

Both

Philosophically, one could also simply ask why a "50th anniversary" is any more important or worthy of a celebration than a 49th or 51st one!! 馃榿
Why do people love so much round numbers, decades, etc. ?? 馃槙
Because we have 10 fingers, i guess...馃榿

I'm amazed and surprised that Omega has been able to keep a lid on this watch. No leaked pictures of a watch that is in production and has been seen by hundreds of people. Quite a feat in a world of social media and smartphones.

Omega is going to milk this for all it is worth. I would too, this is a HUUUUUGE Golden Anniversary of the most significant human exploration achievement in the last two or three hundred years, perhaps much longer. Few who were alive and remember the moon landing in 1969 will be around for the 75th anniversary, and obviously none for the 100th. So far it has been a class act between Omega and NASA, nothing cheesy.

The golden Astronaut seems to be a big thing right now in Florida. Some more images from
The event can be found with #moonwatch on Instagram

That golden astronaut the Italian (?) chick is holding in the second IG pic is about 18" tall, maybe that holds the watch. Obviously that would go into a fitted outer box. That would be elegant and appropriate.

Or it could just be a prop for the big reveal.

Elegant? Not in my book.
For you we will just chuck it in a cheap Omega faux red leather box. Made in China, of course. And that goes in to a plain brown paper bag.

Still better than some "elegant" Disney World like presentation.

I have to say the Apollo astronaut figure looks a bit depressed or seems to have a posture problem. 馃檨

Reminded me of Marvin the Paranoid Android...

I suppose I would be down in the dumps if I had to carry around a bloody heavy gold space suit.馃檮
