Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary in Steel - Expectations

The dealer I'm working with, who just came back from Switzerland for the Omega "closed door" meeting, told me that the SS version will have rose gold on the bezel, and a lunar landing module at the 9 o'clock subdial. He did not provide any further detail. I think I'll keep the deposit in until the actual announcement.

Thanks for posting this. As much as a little gold can look tasteful, I'm not looking for another speedmaster with gold. I'll pass on the 50th Apollo 11 and save my pennies for next year in the hopes that the 50th Snoopy has no gold.

If it is, for whatever reason, (bearing in mind nothing has been confirmed yet) gold or even two-tone etc and not particularly popular, it will only succeed in increasing prices of existing LE’s and other hard-to-come-by models.

I heard 321 was in the 50th SS model and the box was the shape of the landing module. I asked if it had a two tone bracelet and they said not. But who knows it could be a load of shiz.

That's really spooky as my morning turd was exactly the shape of the landing module, could this be a sign?

Don't know for the box and don't know for the material. I was told today LE of 6,969 pieces with an astronaut / lunar landing module at the 9 o'clock subdial. I was told (or confirmed) that the 321 would be dedicated to another non limited but numbered edition.

This confirmed what I was told...

All this I already said and it may also be that the limited edition of the next James Bond movie was presented, we must remember that filming begins this week and we must assume that the film already has the clock assigned

Correction based on the same source: Not rose gold, but moonshine gold on the bezel. And only the bezel channel is gold, insert is still black.

I can’t reveal my sources but my spies have confirmed the following:

The 50th LE Speedy will be announced together with the new Bond LE. In fact, they are the same watch...

In MOONRAKER II, our favourite super spook battles an evil Bionic Buzz Aldrin, who is hell-bent on lunar domination...

Just received an email from an OB. No SS version of the 50th. Gold, as we know, and two tone, no pictures yet.

They did say the Gold edition is sold out. And two tone - close to.

Either way I’m going to hold off.

Two Tone with 6,996 examples worldwide is close to sold out?

I don't believe it.

I was thinking it was the US allocation that was maybe close to sold out - but even on this thread there’s a lot of discussion about holding a place in the line and waiting to see what it looks like...

Yeah, I don't buy it. Also, I've heard something like 600 of the 6996 will be for the US.

If that's true, then I don't understand Omega's sales strategy because the US is, by far, the largest single market. China/Asia are up and coming, and are coming in hot, but we're still the largest here.

Sending only 10% to the US seems weird.

Even then, I still don't believe that all 600 would be completely spoken for. A lot of waiting and seeing.

My OB keeps asking me to put a full price deposit down, and that it's fully refundable. If it was hot, you wouldn't need to keep insisting the deposit was fully refundable. 😀

What do they think this is? A White Ceramic Steel Daytona? 😁

Can I ask where you get "the US is by far the largest single market" from?
