Looks stunning. Although I am not a fan of gold watches, this one has a vintage look that, well, and as I said, stunning.
Quite expensive though....
Cheers

My name is on the list... lets see whether a) I'm anywhere near the top b) I like it and c) if i can pull the money together by summer... all told I wish I'd moved on an original 2-3 years ago but there we go!

I get that gold is about $1300/oz and palladium is over $1500/oz, but that’s a lot of money. I suspect the same movement will be available in a steel-cased model at some point; maybe then.
Stainless steel is ~$3 a pound, would paying $7500 for a SS version be a good deal based on your logic?

I am loathed to part with a grail piece but with seventies bling back in fashion I think I would take $10K to help people on a budget....

I wonder how many put $5k at the OB only to find out it's a full gold model when they were expecting steel lol

The new 3861 movement looks nice, can't wait to see it standard on a steel Speedy
LOL, don't worry they will announce the other version soon enough....

I have both the BA145.022-69 and this new one at home, and I have to say that the new one to me is nicer than the first one.

Super interesting. Great to hear the view of a collector who has the original to hand. Thank you

Great and well done. Nothing beats the vintage original but I am impressed of the new one. Ok I can’t order it in 2019 but I think this will be a great success. 2019 is the year of the Golden Speedmaster and I love that

When I look at the 2 major anniversary LE speedies:

The 60th anniversary Speedmaster dial looks just like the original, except for an obvious differentiation - SWISS MADE above the minute markers.

This Apollo 11 50th anniversary gold Speedmaster dial looks just like the original, except for an obvious differentiation - Au750 inscription.

My guess is that Apollo 11 50th anniversary stainless steel Speedmaster dial will look like the 105.012-65, except for an obvious differentiation - some why-did-they-do-it kind of thing (for me anyway).

I am starting to think about a105.012-65, vintage version.

Not really feeling the red on this, but the box is really cool and I want it.

And nothing wrong to think seriously for the vintage one. A great and important peace. I love it

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the very first "Speedmaster Professional" that doesn't sport either a 321 or (1)861(/3) right? So this is being seen as the "evolution" of the 861 - kind of a slippery slope. I guess to me when there were only 1014 of the original, and quite a few of those were never on the secondary market, and they sell today for not much more than what they are retailing this for... yeah I have a hard time seeing how they are going to move all of these. But what do I know? Not my cup of tea.

I still don't get the return of the 321, and not having it in one of the Apollo 11 LE models.

Best way to maximise sales...that way one would buy a 321 speedy and a Apollo LE speedy

It looks lovely but I would look a GIT in a gold watch. And I'm 20k short. Not my bag baby

Maybe the SS will also have a decorated movement and see through caseback.

I really like it. I‘m not the gold watch guy though and won‘t put my name on the list (and yes it‘s beyond my budget). But it seems to me that they‘ve done everything right here nevertheless. I‘m sure it will sell out quickly.
I find the upgrade of the movement very interesting. Looks like they updated the 1861 without sacrificing the past - nothing completely new (at least visually) but with all the benefits of the awesome METAS certification. I didn‘t expect this to happen. I hope that this new movement will make into the steel version of 50th Moonlanding Anniversary LE as well and I hope I‘m high enough on that list at my OB to get the Steel LE.

For me it’s ok... If I had 25k I don’t think I’d be going for it. Get the gold and the nod to the original reference but it’s just not made me go wow

What a beauty. Wow, Omega made the best 50th Apollo 11 they could do. Fantastic.

Question: Is the new caliber going to be "flight-qualified by NASA"? 😲

It can't be because of the sapphire crystal.

Lots of watches go into space now with sapphire crystals.

OK. Tell NASA to change their requirements. I believe they wanted hesalite because it will crack while sapphire shatter.
