We already know/said it will be in a straight lugs case. And we already knew/said it won't be in the 50th Anniversary 😉

I had missed the first bit (straight lugs).

Which explains my (wrong in hindsight) thinking on the second point.

What other options in solid yellow gold are out there?

The obvious one...

There goes my need for a Rolex Day-Date, this is the one in gold to have for me.

Cool watch. Looks stunning, like the original. Surprised by the Master Chronometer movement with a Co-Axial escapement. Is it a true Professional for the die-hards? Love the evolution while getting back to the roots. Au750/18kt gold is bit too much to me, I also don't like it on the dark side of then moon.
If I don't wind it up in the morning, its not a Speedmaster Professional. Not crazy about this watch.

This is a manual wind with an upgraded 1861.

The Au750 is redundant with the OM sandwiching the Swiss Made on the bottom, no? 😵‍💫

What's the price tag ? It's not available in the UK so won't reveal the price.

Might be me but it looks a bit like the fake gold omegas you can find in certain parts of the world in the bazaar/market. Maybe I loved the 45th anniversary too much, that one was really special.

I see that, for some reason I assumed a METAS Co-axial Chronometer would be automatic.

So, my order is in (need to offload some other watches soon I guess 😀). I love it and wearing the prototype right now. The new caliber 3861 looks stunning (beautiful finish) and 50% of the parts are new (and not interchangeable with the caliber 1861/1863). What amazed me perhaps most is the bracelet... if they only would do this one in steel for the regular Moonwatch, that would be so good. The clasp is only 14mm wide, but wears absolutely great.

The ceramic is also very nicely done, the color is beautiful and no strange white particles (which you get with some other ceramic bezels from other brands). The onyx hour markers are thick and have nice facets. Also interesting, the BA145.022-69 had a little flaw concerning the second markers. Since that gold watch had caliber 861 and was faster ticking than the caliber 321, the seconds markers were a bit off. They corrected it with this new gold Apollo XI model. I have both the BA145.022-69 and this new one at home, and I have to say that the new one to me is nicer than the first one. A bit like Godfather II, that one was also better than the first movie ;-) People can disagree of course, for nostalgic reasons or whatever, but I feel that the thought put into this new watch is absolutely showing. Wow!

There goes my need for a Rolex Day-Date, this is the one in gold to have for me.

Congrats Robert-Jan! Is it #13?😀

I need to rethink my career choices...maybe I should become a watch journalist to afford it? 😁

I bet this movement is going to be new standard for the Speedmaster in a few years so they can justify increasing the price of the Moonwatch.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct...get the 1861 versions while you can folks!

Long overdue. If they can make a manual wind Speedy better, then they should.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the very first "Speedmaster Professional" that doesn't sport either a 321 or (1)861(/3) right? So this is being seen as the "evolution" of the 861 - kind of a slippery slope. I guess to me when there were only 1014 of the original, and quite a few of those were never on the secondary market, and they sell today for not much more than what they are retailing this for... yeah I have a hard time seeing how they are going to move all of these. But what do I know? Not my cup of tea.

I still don't get the return of the 321, and not having it in one of the Apollo 11 LE models.
