A good attempt in recreating the old one. But why the sapphire? More than a 1000 pieces sounds a lot, because of the asking price.

Much more interested in buying the box. That is a great one.

One more thought: Shouldn't the movement be Cal. 3863 as it is a decorated version? Would be more logical in my view.

::facepalm1:: no clue about history, useless critique and u don't have to buy them ALL

the box without the watch is like owning a ferrari blanket cover for your lawn mower

I always wonder if there will be consequences on the vintage watches' desirability once an almost identical reissue comes out, especially on pieces such as this one that would show a smaller degree of patina such as this 9 BA?

I like it, even if I find it slightly uninspired to issue a design that was produced 50 years ago...

I had the same reaction, I'm more interested in the 321 than the 50th anniversary.

Archer, from what you see is there anything about the movement that contributes to it being a no-go from you?

I guess the target audience is mainly affluent buyers in the East. I'm sure this will sell out.

A better buy would be a 2998 for that money...

Do we think this will sell out quickly? That’s a lot of $32,000 watches

is there any more information on the movement? Is this a 1861 modified with a coaxial or one of the new purpose built coaxial movements modified to be manual wind?

based on my understanding, it is the first one, 1861 as the base movement, but they replace the escapement with coaxial escapement.

Not much info, but it seems like an upgraded 1861 and not just a standard coaxial movement modified for manual wind like on the Tresor with the 8511

It's interesting to see the balance wheel that big on a modern Omega movement and surprisingly not a black Si14 part

Agreed, but it's probably really hard to see in person, similar to how all the current ceramic models say ZrO2 in the same spot but no one really notices

it probably also has the dual purpose of preventing it from becoming a replacement part

Very nice indeed, but the price looks far too high. I have a hard time understanding the gap between the price of a FOIS sedna (less than 13 K€) and this one (32 K€). There may be 2 K€ of gold in the bracelet. So where's the catch?

I love the original 1969 version of this watch, and it's interesting that Omega decided to reissue this model. I would love to have it but sadly I don't consider this piece affordable. To me 1000+ of this watch seems ambitious by Omega, I am curious to see both how long it takes for it to sell out and what this reissue does to the value of the original.

Al, is this truly an update of the 321-861-1861 evolution albeit with a different escapement, or is this fundamentally different - as in no common parts, and effectively closer to the 8500 "Speedmasters" versus the traditional Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch?

I like that Omega really worked on getting the visual details "right". Hopefully I'll get to check one out at a boutique, but I'm not likely a buyer at this price. The new movement seems a bit risky, but I'm glad it's manual-wind. I will wait for a possible following release of steel versions / (rumored) mission case.

They're not here to sell you gold wholesale. It's across the line, and Rolex does the same thing. See:

Difference is bracelet and is $14,200 more. FOIS Sedna is also on a strap. Quite simply, it's for a different class of clientele that is not worried about the price of raw material.
