Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary in Gold – Breaking News

Heads up, I've just been informed by some AD's that Omega has finalized their allocations and they've decided to not allocate any to US-based AD's (only Omega Boutiques).

Anyone else hearing this, as well?

If so, good luck to Omega with respect to selling all 1,014 of these at this price point. It's one thing to try to do that for Speedy Tuesday's at the $7k price point, and another to do it at the $35k price point, full colored gold, etc.

Hopefully it is different in EU 🫨

Yeah, I think the EU is fine. I'm told this is just specific to the US market.

I don`t think so.
Here in the German market go probably only 5 pieces as my dealer confirmed. After direct inquiry it was not possible to get one after three hours.
Only special customers.

I just got confirmation from Omega USA that these watches will also be allocated/delivered to ADs. So no worries, someone was talking BS (again).

Thank you Robert-Jan.
May be some of the messaging stems from the fact that some ADs overcommitted to customers before having a final confirmation from Omega that they would indeed get the allocation and may be that miscommunication occurred between Omega and some ADs.
No matter what, I am happy to read that those who have a lead on this watch through an AD will be able to secure one. 👍
Thank you for taking the time to inform us.

Awesome. Thanks for the confirmation! I'll push on my AD to push harder then.

I've just had confirmation from my AD that I've been allocated one of these. They had a call from Omega last week. Super excited! Not sure when it will arrive though. The 'official' wait begins.

Got to try one of these last night at an event, well a pre production model. Very impressed but was more so when the guy looking at it before me whipped out an original BA145.022 to compare it with. The clasp and tapering bracelet is just beautiful.

I also tried one on at an event last week and totally agree on the bracelet and clasp, best thing about the watch.

God that gold speedy is lovely, and I don’t usually like gold! What was the weight like? Looks a little lighter than the usual Rolex shade of gold I see.

Now if only I had a spare 25 grand knocking about....

Yes, the shade of gold is more pale and much nicer in my opinion as it is a bit more subtle. The weight was really good - certainly hefty but not too much.

I thought the same about the spare 25k - if only!

I liked the weight, it felt rather more substantial than the steel equivalent, but not boat anchor heavy. Reassuringly heavy you might say. I still have no idea why they chose short 105.012 pushers on a reissue of a later 145.022 design. There was no rhyme or reason for that IMO, has anyone seen a plausible explanation for this?

Mr JC Monanchon stated (in Frankfurt), that they were inspired by the watch worn by Buzz (they actually wanted (i.e. the plan was) to deliver all Apollo 11 50th watches with a cal 321 as well) and they scanned (using tomography) the 105.012 for all the 50th watches, so the case has the same shape, and I guess that also explains the pushers.

Where are you that it's 25k? 😀

It's $35k here in the US.

I assumed he was talking about the EXTRA cost (+/-) of the all gold version over the steel/gold version..
