Mr JC Monanchon stated (in Frankfurt), that they were inspired by the watch worn by Buzz (they actually wanted (i.e. the plan was) to deliver all Apollo 11 50th watches with a cal 321 as well) and they scanned (using tomography) the 105.012 for all the 50th watches, so the case has the same shape, and I guess that also explains the pushers.
That makes sense but as a result they have neither watch being particularly faithful to the original, the steel one missing the 321 and the gold one with pushers too short and missing the original 861, but perhaps that is a forgivable change/upgrade.

As well as marking the significant anniversary, I like they way they have an eye on the future here. The new 3861 movement is a great addition and the lack of the 321 movement here is not such a great concern for me.

Agreed. With the gold watch being based on an original which had the 861 when launched, it would be an anachronistic throwback to punt it with a redux 321 IMO, an upgraded 861 makes perfect sense. For the steel watch, however, which is based loosely on a 321 model, such a movement would have been been welcome. It has already been discussed at length why that isn’t the case though.

That is unfortunate, did you have any sort of deposit on the watch?

The exact same has happened to my AD when I spoke to her at the weekend. They were due one gold, deposit paid, but omega have changed their order (I suspect most of these may go to OB’s). By way of apology, my AD now has 3 steel ones coming as opposed to 1.

Attended an Omega event at Bluewater, Kent, last night, managed to get a chance to try this watch on and it is a very impressive timepiece. It has a very nice feel and weight to it but doesn't IMHO look OTT on the wrist. A stunning watch, pictures really don't do it justice, just a shame it costs more than my car did.

Nice watch but personally i think the watch is just too loud. Lets be honest. This watch wasn't won on the moon. Its those stainless steel pieces that were theones that made it there.

I'm not sure that is really the point, is it? This watch is celebrating that achievement not purporting to be fit to be worn on the moon!

One thing I was dissapointed with on the steel version box was they didn’t do a 3D style moon surface and just went with a picture whereas the gold one is ‘bumpy’
Dang it!
You better sell it quick!
Oh, Hold on a minute...

I believe this may just be a communication performance, totally unrelated to sales performance and product availability.
