And ?
So, you believe without proof of a one owner watch , what Auction Houses tell you ? They are in the business of selling something/anything to get the commission ...
Hi all,
Long time since I've posted anything here and a long, long time since I've done much with speedies. No-one seems to have addressed the "SP" designation on the caseback? I know this has always been confusing but didn't the community settle on this denoting "special pushers" which were better sealed and more water resistant. Were these cases used for the Ultraman?
Also, 33.7% commission? FFS!! Don't the auction houses understand that we bid based on the total cost and raising commissions does not increase their profit margins but, rather, lowers the hammer prices. This gives the seller a lower price and should encourage both sellers and buyers to find other agents.
The question I was trying to raise was whether SP cases were ever used for Ultraman watches. I know they are contemporaneous but I do not know if they were used on that order.
I always find a watch a bit more interesting if it is a one owner watch.
And no dealers or middlemen that had an opportunity to do some fishy stuff…
This is very naive. Obviously, sellers lie all the time about being the original owner, and in this case, the claim is coming second-hand from the auction house, which is even worse.
Also, there is plenty of opportunity for a one-owner watch to be tampered with, even if it is truly with the original owner. Half the time, the owner doesn't even remember what was done. I've lost count of the number of times the original owner has sworn up-and-down that the watch was never serviced and every part was original, but the watch is full of service parts and the screw-heads are all scratched up. Actually, that scenario plays out frequently on the forum.
I dont think that the issue here is being naive?
We do our research, study, and maybe ask a question or two (or more…) on the Forum, or somewhere else?
IF the watch would be a one owner watch, I do think that it is a very positive aspect to have in the assessment.
It is easier to follow up on the history, and maybe ask some questions….
And tampering with a watch is not the same thing as having done a service?
Anyway - It is always a pleasure when you read and answer my posts - so keep up the good work!!!
😉
I don't know why you are pimping this auction, but I think it's important for other potential bidders to understand that the information you are supposedly providing may be complete BS.

Hi there!
Nice of you to help out here!
I have a 145.012-67 (not an Ultraman), and it also has SP...
So I don't think that the SP are only for the Ultraman?
And Yepp...insane commissions...And they take from both the seller and the buyer!
