I am returning my speedy today, the seller has no problems with it. (as expected ๐ )
Fellow members seems to be commenting me calling a watch dealer "a friend". Ok, I agree there are a lot of dealers out there who are dishonest and only cares about shifting their products. I am a vintage rolex collector and I have seen many of them. However, this particular dealer I know pretty well ("friend"), me and my collector friend have been purchasing from, we have plenty of smooth nice transactions and he guarantees 90% money back (Rolex) and 85% money back (Omega) if you ever wanted to part with your watch in the future (if you are willing to sell it back to him at that price after inflation is a different story (market will not always be going up though)).
So the point I want to make is not all dealers are evil and I feel buying from him, my money is always safe. Also, he is willing to share his knowledge and experience on watches with us and give a nice discount $$. So I feel its fair for me to call him somekind of a "friend". Just not an unknown dealer from the street. Now members will be saying if he really is that good why did he not disclose all the "wrong parts" of the watch before selling. As I mentioned before, I and him specialize in Rolex and every now and then someone will go to his shop and trade an Omega in and if he likes it he buys it. (He even did not know you can order Extract of Achives from Omega)
Now ofcourse, I will never know 100% if he knows about the "wrong parts" or not and I dont care. I have good experiences with him and full confidence buying from him. I know I always will get my money back if I find out if there is anything wrong or don't like about the watch.
Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to respond to this "friend" term which so many fellow members found ridiculous or funny.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your input and I certainly have gained a lot of knowledge in vintage speedies overnight. Especially member "Spacefruit", I have been reading through some old posts and realised that you are the owner or one of the admin/moderators of speedy101.com (sorry I did not know before)
Thank you so much for setting up this beautiful website full of valuable information.
My hunt for a nice 105.012 continues.......๐. Happy collecting everyone!
