Allright, thank you so much everyone for your inputs. I will return the watch tomorrow. I said I am friends with the dealer is because I have bought other pieces from him before mainly Rolex and we always talk about and study watches. Both him and me are not really specialist in speedmasters. I only own a Tintin and would like to own a speedy with 321 movement. This dealer does not sell online and is only a small shop located in Hong Kong. Disappointed this ended up with returning it 🙁

Thanks again everyone! Enjoy your Speedies in good health. Cheers

Value the parts:
Movement: $1800 - 3000
Dial: $2000-4000
Your point of view is certainly enlightening of the modern collectors' world because an old watchmaker would tend to value the dial a fraction of the movement. 😎

Maybe the price of 7k has the following breakdown?

taking Spacefruit mid range price:
Movement: $2200
Dial: $3000
Case: $800
bracelet from slightly later stamped 1171/1: $1000???

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased an Omega Speedmaster 105.012-66 CB.
After more research on this watch it seems to be this case produced by CB in year 1966 has a special feature which is a flat facet on the lugs.
Now the thing is that my example does not have this feature but the case is still extremely thick with original finish.

Then I looked in the Moonwatch only book which said:
"Please note that some of the 105.012-66 cases of La Centrale Boites have had this particularity removed. It is likely that the ledges were considered unattractive so that they were filed away in one or several polishing operations."

So I want to ask if there are other owners who has no flat facet on their 66 speedy?
Also does not having this feature affects the value of the watch a lot?

thanks everyone for your input! cheers!

The case is a HF case. Look at the back of the lugends and compare them to a CB case. Can be found here on OF.

Quick and dirty shots, but they show the thick facet on the underside of the tip of the CB lugs and the thinner side profile.

$500 tops if it’s full length, in excellent condition. Yours is not photographed here so I can’t say how much less

I seems like the quality of your "friendship" is at a higher level compared to his. It is difficult to understand how someone who earns their living at this game would not realise that this watch was not correct.😕 I hope you are able to sort this out and get the watch that you are looking for.😀

So now I understand that my case might be an HF case? does this mean the dial its still correct to the case?
In other words, if I can find the correct caseback, pushers and chrono hand I can restore the watch back to its original spec? (except for the DON bezel)

Cheers 😀

If you can tell us which bits are the original watch, we can tell you which bits you need to change.

I think this is a parts watch.

There is nothing to restore it to....

I just bought this today, so far I know the dial ,the case back and the movement is correct for a 105.012. The bezel i knew was not correct when i bought it.
Now I found out the pushers and the chrono hand is not correct....
The reason why i first posted is that I want to ask about the case.........so now it seems to be it is very hard to identify which case belongs to which reference as there are no numbers on the case.......I know my caseback does not match the case back though.........

I think I will just return it to avoid headache

To the OP, dont let the ribbing get you down, if you dont know you dont know, and we know a bit and its fun to hunt around an iffy watch - its a challenge and fun.

And dont take anything personally, I am sure you dont, but we get carried away.

Before I knew anything, I knew nothing, and it was kindness of members here who really helped me. I was really naive but enthusiastic, So enthusiastic I bought a 2915 that didnt exist - and apparently was the third person to do it, and another three people did it after me. I suspect there would have been more but for this forum.

I have had all day to mull over this, Its a horror, and your friend will I am sure take it back, knowing as you say that the pair of you know little.

This is a full on frankewatch, that case never left the factory with that case back, and I suspect not with that dial either.
