Yup, that’s not a CB mid case.
Out of curiosity, how can you tell? I have a 66 CB and am learning about it. Thanks!

@Dan S, i was in a bit of hurry before...
And the pics I "stole" were from Speedmaster101...
And I only had focus on what he wrote and didn't do my own research regarding different variations...!

Here is a copy/paste:

Sorry about that!

Look up Speedmaster101 on youtube, he has lots of good info, and it very entertaining!

Here is a link regarding the CB-case.

@Dan S :
I do think it must be a 105.012-66? My title of the thread, but I could be WAY OFF...
The serial nr is 2495xxxx, and the range for a 66 should be 2453 xxxx-2544 xxxx (Speedmaster 101 once again..😉)

Good to see you shared the sn 2495xxx of the subject watch. very interesting. Check again the actual production period of HF vis-a-vis CB from experts as i dont have any data as limited sn of cb66 produced in a short period. That sn could fall within the much limited sn of cb66. if so, it is possible the mid case therefore is not original to watch.

I got a respons before from @Davidt:
"Yup, that’s not a CB mid case"

So I think that's sorted out!??

Aside from the lug facets, the case side profile is different on CBs. In this instance though it’s the facet on the underside of the lugs tips. They’re larger and more pronounced on CBs whereas the HF cases have small facets right at the end (as shown on the OPs watch).

CB lug tips, not sharp nor pointed, but flat and thought to be protecting the space suit from any accidental damage.

Great observation. That’s interesting about the space suit

Good point.

My personal theory is that the CB case being more flat with facet on the lyre lugs would make the mid-case more sturdy than the HF case and it might have been designed with the space mission in mind.

Hi there Forum Folks! Here is an update regarding the watch!

The auction house has now changed the description, from a HF to a CB....And from a 145.012 to a 105.012!

This shows once again that auction houses are a bit in "the dark" regarding what they are trying to unload??

@Davidt, are these the ones you are referring to as HF facets?
And this is NOT the watch that is up for this auction..

Yes those are the facets I’m referring to but that isn’t a CB case either.
