Omega Speed Master, fake?

Hello Everyone,

I would like to point out the fact that I'm not an expert, I've just started growing some interest in watches only recently.
With this said, my grandad passed away few month ago and empting his house this one came out.
No documentation or box have been found unfortunately.

To me it seems a "not so bad/I've seen worse" knock off but the doubt remains.
For what I can say:
- It doesn't work, trying to adjust the time it start working but it stops after a while, don't know how much time precisely but it doesn't survive a night.
- Talking about night, a lot of Omegas have glowing "indicators". This one does not glow.
- There should be a serial number somewhere, I did not open it but I didn't find any.
- No logo on the wristband
- All the Speedmaster I've seen have numbered bezel with the word "Tachimètre" sometimes, this one does not have it. I don't know though if the model of which is inspired to does not have this characteristic.

I didn't noticed anything else but probably someone more expert than me can say if it's original or not or at least tell me which model it should be. Could someone give some support?

Thank you!

Fake, chrono's have min/hrs/sec, not days and dates on subdials.

Aside from what you pointed out (and among other things), the dial is a dead giveaway...especially the sub-dials.
Just fyi.👍

As others have said, it’s a fake. Virtually nothing about the watch is correct.

FAAR from an expert, but:
I wouldn't take the missing bezel as evidence of it being a fake, they are a separate piece of aluminum glued on.

That said, even to me (who has never seen an Omega in person), that looks REAL fake. The 9 oclock subdial is just completely wrong and the dial writing looks bad. The crown is wrong as well. I'm sure others will chime in, but that looks really fake to me.

At least it doesn't say it's swiss made. 😉

But it does say Omega. Well, wearing this at home can help you form an opinion whether you like the general appearance and dial layout, maybe even the weight, and then you can decide whether you want to buy a real one.

Yes it's fake. Should be Speedmaster instead of Speed Master.

Why? Are there Omega AD’s in your city?

I knew from a split second glance that it's fake. Compare it side by side with a real speedmaster (pre 3861) and you'll see it's obviously fake.

There is 1 AD a bit of a ride away. I DID get my speedy since that post, so it is no longer true 😀

I wondered about this too when I read your post. So you're the eBay Speedy post from the other day!? Nice.

Congratulations 👍
