Either are separate violations of basic consumer protection laws of any U.S. state; if “Boston” is in Boston, the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Law is an example.

These are not the sort of laws a person can call the police to enforce, but instead that can be initiated by the State’s Attorney General Office against a business, or via a complaint procedure by the consumer (MA’s procedure outlined in the above link).

If I wanted my deposit back and an OB or AD rep was playing this game, I would first warn that I was about to do four things: (1) submit a complaint to the MA AG’s office of violations of the MACPA, (2) submit a formal complaint by consumer letter to the OB under the MACPA, (3) file a charge-back/fraud claim with my credit card provider, and (4) provide copies of (1)-(3) to Bienne.

If the warning didn’t work...
The OB is in California. My user name was created when I lived in Massachusetts. I know he can’t keep the deposit without getting into trouble.

You could always submit your complaint to Switzerland if you feel cheated or that the process is unfair. My OB never gave promised me a specific month for delivery...they have always told me sometime in 2021.

Yeah, I tend to agree. If you’re finding the process this frustrating and vexatious, I suspect it may colour if not ruin any enjoyment you take in the watch when it arrives. I have had one or two very frustrating experiences with high-dollar purchases, and eventually I just got from under the item in question because it came with so many sharp strings attached.

It’s a nice watch. But there are plenty of nice watches that you can order and receive on your own timetable. No luxury consumable is worth as much grief as this Snoopy seems to have given you.

I’m also on a “guaranteed list.” But the date has changed a dozen times, and I expect that the price will too, eventually, as capacity fails to keep up with demand and Omega cash in. If it does, or if the saga drags on much longer I’ll take my deposit and move to another piece and be thankful I bought my SMP Diver and FOIS when I did. It’s just a watch, and honestly I’m finding myself more interested in finding and fixing up (clumsily, strictly for my own learning and enjoyment) vintage pieces now.

I wouldn’t worry about the price changing, especially for people with deposits.
Omega is choosing the order of delivery and specifically making certain customers wait longer, regardless of the time of order. The backlash that they would face for a price incase would be insane. Way, way worse than the unanticipated delays...

What I object to is paying a 100% deposit for a watch that is not limited in number, shouldn’t be hard to make (it's a speedmaster...they’ve made over a million of those by now), and waiting for over 6 months while I see it being flipped on chrono24 and being told “it’s out of our hands” by the people who collected the 100% deposit. Deposits I’ve paid before were never over 50% and the wait was inversely proportional to the % of the deposit. If Omega wants to play Rolex games, don’t take 100% deposits. I was told omega USA wanted to impress Switzerland with the size of their deposit to get a larger allocation. That was a poor decision...

The duration of the wait should be inversely proportional to the % of the deposit. If Omega wants to play games, don’t take deposits. That’s what they’re doing for the fairy dust movement and I’m fine with that...less so where the not a limited edition snoopy is concerned.

The duration of the wait should be inversely proportional to the % of the deposit. If Omega wants to play games, don’t take deposits.

Did you pay them a 100% deposit and wait a year? Putting up with OB games or Rolex AD games is one thing but giving them a deposit and then being jerked around is a totally different thing. If you let yourself get molested by these unethical people, that’s your choice. This guy has until vaccination day for the public until I close the door on omega. I think taking a 100% deposit with an April delivery promise that isn’t kept is 10,000 times worse that telling a guy “but this Cellini, and we’ll see about getting you that Pepsi”...maybe it’s because I fell for the former but never for the latter. I expect Rolex ADs to be slimy, but not an OB....live and learn.

You do know you can buy a Speedmaster at Omega today.

But you choose to want one that you know is in high demand and you would have to wait for it.

Maybe you should just

@Boston Bert has been a member on OF for over 3 1/2 years and it seems all his 28 posts since a member have occurred in the last week or so in threads regarding supply of the Snoopy watch. How unfair it is, how Omega is ripping him off, how what Omega is doing should be illegal, how they are taking people's money with no firm delivery date, etc. If he finds this waiting unacceptable he needs to call it a day and ask for his money back and move on. The constant harping is getting tiring.

Back in 2003 Harry Winston introduced their Opus 3, an all digital watch conceived by Vianney Halter for which HW took full payment for all 55 pieces in the edition, about CHF 60,000 each if I remember correctly. The concept was so unusual that the technology didn't exist to make the watch, but HW promised it would be made.....eventually. They offered people their money back but the future owners stuck with the journey and it was almost eight years before they were finally delivered after an untold number of high end watch technicians worked on the design, most giving up. Renaud et Papi (high end Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille designs) finally finished the project. Sometimes a quest for something becomes a journey, some people accept that journey, some won't. Boston Bert needs to decide where he lies, is it a journey for him or a burr under his saddle?

Lol I’ll just echo what everyone else is saying.

Let it go man. It’s going to be a wait. If you aren’t ready for it, get your money back. No one is holding you hostage. I’d rather be guaranteed the watch in a year with my full deposit down where all you have to do is WAIT PATIENTLY, than play the Rolex games. Bottom line, this is beyond first world problems, we’re talking about luxury watches here. And no one is cheating you of your money.
