Omega made a lot of dogs in the quartz era, I think the Swiss have learned their lesson, 'stick to what you know and market the heritage angle of your product'. The Swiss are not going to compete with the Apple's or Microsoft's of the world, just as the Silicon Valley bunch isn't going to start producing mechanical watches.

Well there are already smart watches in the family over on the Tissot side. They are not exactly flying off the shelves.

the problem with high end smart watches as has been noted is they become obsolete in 3-5 years. So the more expensive the watch the more you loose.

Apple proved this when the solid gold models on Apple watches sold significantly under forecasts while the normal ones greatly exceeded forecasts.
