Really, it is a brand new watch out of the box from a AD!. Why would they have 2008 watch?

Maybe NOS (new old stock). As mr_smith says, it can happen.

Ladies and mid sized watches do not move fast. AD’s are given allotments of watches to sell . Extra allotment generally get pawned off into the grey market. The grey market has an even harder time moving ladies and mid sized pieces.

Is there some sort of graph you’re using for this? Omega Serial numbers don’t make any sense to me. Here’s a 2018 (or newer) sea master I found on eBay with an 82 Serial

Thank you all for your response. The list price is $6100 and I am getting 25% discount, is that reasonable from an AD.

20-25% is a regular discount at men's steel Omega watch, 25% at 37.5mm PO sounds fair.

Forget about using a serial number to know which year the watch was made. There are some 'serial-decoders' which works for older/vintage watches, they are useless for PO 2nd generation.

It won't be as early as 2008, that model (37.5mm PO with ceramic bezel) wasn't launched until 2011, it is showing as discontinued on Omega's website and will likely be around 8-9 years old (see below for my thinking). It wont matter, when sold as new you get a 5 year warranty so if it starts to run badly in a year or two treat the warranty as a free service.

I had a 2010 PO 2201.50 on 84.98m so a 2011-2013 PO on 85.19m makes sense to me. You can get a rough idea of age from the serial but as noted above, a single internet list or tool wont give the full picture, you need to iterate from known serials for that model, rather like Eugene does with the ILMS tool.

One easy tell will be how long the warranty is on the pictogram card, if the card is from within the past 3 years it will say 5 years, if older it will say 4 years for that movement (or possibly even less). Regardless, when sold new the watch has a 5 yr warranty.

Omega serials don't always follow a straight line overall pattern, you need to drill down and look at the pattern within a model series. This is particularly true with Speedmasters but other models have weird sequences too.

Just one other thing for the OP to ponder, note the un numbered warranty card is a newer design than the numbered (and presumably original) pictogram and chronometer certs? I wonder if the original warranty card was lost, or they had to replace it. There is a story behind this watch, maybe it was a return (with a completed card) that got lost at the back of their safe for a few years, or maybe it just sat in the window. Either way it does warrant a decent discount.

Good day, I am new to the forum and am trying to sell an Omega De Ville Symbol but a potential buyer has said it is a fake. I bought in on eBay about 3 yrs ago but now my gold Eterna has been fixed it is surplus to requirements. The serial number is: 54 922 021 and there are a couple of other numbers on it: 196 0316 and 396 1016. Is it real and what would o good sale price be? Thank you. Xylophone

Welcome. :) Open a new thread with this question to not “take over” a thread of someone else and, most importantly, add some pictures for us, ideally also from the movement. I’m sure you’ll then get a verdict regarding authenticity.

I have Speedmaster Pro .005 from 2016 and the serial number is 873189xx. My friend has Speedmaster Pro from 2018 and the serial number is 77xxxxxx. No logic here?

The service is of no help. They need $150 to find out the year of manufacture

I wouldn’t say it’s of no help, they just charge for their help. But if you want 100% certainty on your query you may have to pay someone for it. It may as well be the Omega service center.
