Omega Seamaster Running Fast

Hello, everyone!

I am new to the world of automatic watches. I just purchased my very first authentic Omega Seamaster No Time to Die edition, and I love it!

However, I’ve noticed that the seconds hand seems to run a few seconds faster than the clock I match it up with on my phone. Is it common/normal for these watches to run slightly faster by a few seconds or so? I take the watch off over night & keep it in a watch box. The watch is brand new, so I can’t imagine it would need servicing.

Thank you in advance!

I believe your watch is rated at 0-6 seconds per day (Omega cal. 8806). That’s the rating for the 8800.

If it’s gaining a few seconds a day, that’s fine and normal. All mechanical watches gain or lose a few seconds a day. Even the most expensive ones.

You can check your watch’s chronometry test performance online.

Everyone else already nailed it on the head. Such a sick watch. Congrats on your purchase and welcome!

I think the important question is what period it runs a few seconds fast over.
If it’s a few seconds per day, no problem.
If it’s a few seconds per minute, big problem!
Assuming it’s a few seconds per day fast, that’s absolutely normal, as others have said.
Congratulations on picking such a beauty for your first good watch!

The time from the cellular network isn't necessarily stable enough to guage a watch against. Try time.gov.
