Hi everyone,
I purchased this lovely 50s Seamaster yesterday and I'm having trouble identifying the exact model. I've been searching the Omega database for its reference (4677) but haven't had any luck.

The watch was originally purchased in 1958 in England by a physicist, then traveled the world with him to Nashville where he worked on radar tech and eventually ended up in New Zealand where I bought it from his son for $500 US.

It's in pretty good condition, with obviously relumed hands and a new Omega beads of rice 1502 bracelet.

To my eye, it resembles either a reference 2869 or 2846, but the case design and reference number are throwing me off.

I'd be incredibly grateful if any of you could shed some light on this mystery. Does anyone recognize the case design or have any information about a similar Omega from this era?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Matt

Thanks @rendo that clears everything up. It's obviously a second generation Dennison Seamaster... I really like the lugs.

Thanks again, I appreciate your help! 🙂

As I look at it more, I suspect the dial has been repainted at some point. I hope other members can correct me if I’m making that up.

I am not seeing any obvious problems with the dial. Nice watch.

I’m going to say the dial looks fine to me as well. Text is consistent and correct font. Serifs present. Not issues with minute marker spacing. Looks ok.
