Not really, sorry. It could be a service replacement or a specification from the importer or something else - I doubt we'll ever know. It's not a feature that is sought after really, more of an interesting feature on an already lovely watch.

"When purchased" like the dial on yours which hadn't been repainted? I may come across as a bit harsh, nut reality is that no-one knows what the watches has been through. The one you just posted now has a replaced crown for instance. Trust me when I say that it has no bearing on value and collectors will look at nearly all other aspects of the watch before the colour of the date wheel.

You haven't yet posted a clear photo of yours but I would draw your attention to the size and style of the Omega and Automatic text in the photo of the other watch you show. They are in fact not quite exactly the same as yours as you suggest. Note the missing 'calendar' text and heavy printing of Seamaster. I do think yours may have had some work at some point. This is not uncommon and not a disaster but bear in mind this is a collector forum and collectors worry about such things.

Yep, looks lovely 馃憤

The points earlier in the thread about it being redialed are correct, but that shouldn't detract from the pleasure of wearing it. Leave being annoyed over that stuff to the collectors 馃榿

Hello to all,
I think that my watch is from 1957, can you confirm ? here is the information
Seamaster 18K gold, Milanese mesh gold strap that I replaced with a brown leather strap. Caliber 503 Case No. 401710
I wrote and sent photos to Omega, they confirmed that a series had come out with the red odd numbers.

No, we can not confirm. Open the back and then we can evaluate. Same question again and same answer for the 1000's time ....

OUR ANSWER
Dear Sir,
We thank you for your message.
The date of your watch is like this because it was an aesthetic choice of OMEGA's product managers at the time.
Wishing you a pleasant day.
Cordially,

We'll need the serial number on the movement to give you a rough estimate which year it's from. The number inside the caseback doesnt help...

15593562 should be approximately early 1957. Mind you, it might well have been sold a year or two later, so an Extract of the Archives could easily also state a delivery in 58 or 59.
