On some redials it’s worth running through the specifics to identify what gives it away. That’s a pointless task on this dial as everything is wrong.
The first and overriding issue is the quality of the printing on the letters - It’s incredibly poor, uneven, of varying thickness and extremely imprecise.

Also, this is a commonly seen fantasy redial, which comes up on eBay at various dealers frequently.

I would guess that the meaning of a fantasy redial is pretty straightforward: a dial that has been redone to achieve the appearance of a sought-after, rare or valuable dial. Point taken about the general quality of the printing - yes.

These came with dozens out of Bombay, India. There was a certain seller there that was quite big at that time. But others made this type of dial as well.

Yes, basically no 165.003 ever came from the factory with a dial that looked remotely like this. It’s trying to look like a Ranchero or early Seamaster 300 which are different models entirely
