This have just arrived.

My best guess is that it is a Omega Naïad, posible a ref. 2064. Serial date it around 1938, it has a heavy gasket in the back of the case. It is a caliber 23.4 SC.

Any comments and old material on these Naïad is velcome 😀

Pretty little watch. I like the contrast of its blue hands and dial shade. The case looks in very good shape. Yours?

Yes indeed, a beautiful Naiad markI. It still has its cork seal in the tube. It seems in a good condition, be careful however, the spring that keeps the sweep second pinion in place is missing. If you don't replace it, the pinion may move and the second hand will stop.
Some old material :
A 1939 catalog :

And a Swedish 1937 advertising :

What a beautiful watch!
My dial is gunky and I'm too chicken to try and clean, yours is fantastic!
Our caseback numbers aren't too far apart.

I think my puppy must come from the same litter as yours - only three numbers earlier in both movement and case number. But yours is in beautiful condition - clearly from a private school (mine was a street fighter). In fact, putting the two together shows just how good yours is. Whoever ‘RF’ was clearly got his money’s-worth.

Ever-observant Yann has picked up the missing spring over the pinion (luckily, mine is still there).

My crystal is badly crazed - but I think it’s not a case of a simple replacement. Maybe Yann can comment? Weren’t these a special material?

Tom

They're tiny, but wear bigger than they look. Mine, like @UncleBuck's, doesn't seem to advertise the Waterproof on the caseback.

This have just arrived.

Congrats! I was about to put a bid in, but changed my mind with minutes to go - surprised that they went for as little as they did 😀

One more from the same source in a rare case on its way to Berlin.

That's the next generation of Naiads with screw in back.. It appeared in the 1940 catalog. I think the one with three slots is the first model, then there were six slots. Not so rare case by the way but yours seems to have a nice original dial. I'll be able to post some material on this model this weekend if you're interested.

Tom

well I think it is a standard plexiglass crystal with nothing specific.

Really nice watches. Interesting the stepped bezel looks a lot like some of the Longines steel case designs of that era.

Omtom,, be very, very careful!
Yann will have you whisked back in time , quite happily I must say!
The 1930's will seem (rightfully so!) the golden age of horology.

I agree - I'm looking forward to it! What a wonderful and generous source of information about these lovely pieces and history.

Hi,
Skrotis watch is a ref 2108, here in the 1940 general catalog :
15122011450419182113843935.jpg

It has the 23.4 with small second, therefore not a 'Medicus' (although this name was then given by Omega only to its first central second model, ref CK651, with a square case, and was recently extended to all 23.4SC models, even in the OMDB), but certainly a Naiad.

I have a series of their little sisters, ref CK 2111, same case design and size but with a 23.4SC inside. Here are two pictures from 1940 catalogs :

Here one of mine with unusual black original dial :
15122011425419182113843926.jpg

Another one with a nice aged dial :
15122011424919182113843923.jpg
Both are from 1941-42 with the three slot screw in caseback :
15122011425119182113843924.jpg
15122011425219182113843925.jpg
And I have two other ones with the same case (one is a project/donnor) :
15122011425819182113843930.jpg
15122011573219182113843963.jpg
I don't think this case can be qualified as 'rare'. Less usual is the same case design with the six slot screw in caseback :
15122011573419182113843964.jpg
This caseback came later I think (no image of the dial side, it is still a project...) but still has the 'waterproof - modèle + déposé' inscription.
