Hello OF gurus please help assessing this 1961 cal 552 Seamaster signed Meister with unusual vertical texture dial, fat indices. Very clean looks like some polishing in past??, looks like original or early replacement crown. Pictures taken in yellow light best I could do at the small shop. Dial is very pleasing creamy white in person. I know these were co-signed by Zurich retailer (like Turler)
My questions are:
1. Is this dial unusual variant and does it increase value?
2. Does Meister sign increase value?
3. Is polishing excessive?
4. Asking price 2900 USD seems high to me your opinion?
The watch is gorgeous in person dial is perfect Caseback looks great No movement pics yet

Yes ... yes.
No.
For me, yes (although the photos aren't from the best angles to judge).
YES!

Nice dial, original. Case looks a bit soft.
I have doubts about the hands, I remember dauphines on these.
Price is totally out imho.

What is the reference number?
Depending on the reference I think the crown could be original, mine is a 14762 and therefore should have the scalloped crown originally but I think I have seen these "ribbon" dials in earlier Seamaster references as well and therefore the possibility of the clover crown.

Looks to have been polished a bit and I am not sure about the hands, they seem off to me but many of these dials I believe was something of a special order so maybe the hands also would have been chosen.

Price is insane obviously I would have expected half or even 1/3 of that, even though the dial definitely adds a premium to a "regular" dial.

Here is mine for comparison, the dial is not the same but similar.

@qazwsx1 have some similar ones as well and probably better knowledge than me so hopefully he can chime in 😀

I echo the above that the price is obscene. And I also believe the hands are incorrect.

Reference number 14761. I have found photos of 2 identical ribbon style band from 1961 and they had dauphine hands.

For that price you should ask for a hallmark photo too 😀

Then I should expect the scalloped crown rather than the clover originaly.
Since the 14761 is the no date version of 14762.

Thank you for your info! So the original crown should look like yours ( scalloped) so the one I posted probably service replacement.

I also see that the baton hands have black insert or painted with small distal lume area, whereas the dial indices have no lume. Suggesting mismatch
