Omega HEV, Is it time to go?

As much as the 11 o’clock HEV is part of the Seamaster family, is it not time for it to go?

Omega are building fantastic master chronometer movements!

Omega are using high grade Ti.

But they still use the manual HEV @ 23:00 on five watches!!

I love the fact that Omega is not R-sa & I adore the heritage, however we ALL know that as iconic as the manual HEV is. IT IS TIME TO GO.

I vote yes. I would love to see the NTTD without the HEV sticking out. Make it flush if it has to exist for technical/certification reasons.

But where would they mount the laser? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Personally I agree, I think the seamaster cases without a HEV are much nicer, much smoother, more elegant, streamlined, to have a valve that only has a very niche use seems somewhat unnecesary especially when an automatic valve is possible for Omega as demonstrated on the Ploprof 1200.

I honestly think that the new generation planet ocean will have an integrated valve on the case when it is announced next year. But i think it will be harder to remove it from the SMP Diver because i think that design is iconic for that model and Omega wouldn't want to mess with it.

My view: It will go on the Planet Ocean as they will industrialize the "Planet Ocean Ultra Deep" prototype that has no HEV.
On the Diver 300M it won't go anywhere. It is part of its design/DNA from the very beginning.

I am actually not a fan of the HEV, and often dream my 2254 didnt have one.
Then i tried to imagine it without, and i must admit, it does feel like something is missing there.
The HEV somehow balances the overall look.

I've always liked it, but not the overly huge one like on the newest 300M models...

No leave it, it’s stopping me from wanting or buying one....😉

Nope, leave it as is, at least on the SMPc. It’s a defining part of the watch.

I would like to see it removed, but understand there will never be consensus

Yes, for me HEV is inseparable part of SMP and PO.
AT and any vintage-inspired Seamaster dive watch looks good without the HEV tho.

Well, even that bigger HeV on the newest models is nothing compared to "fixes" which we can see occasionally on the secondary market 😁

I have had my eye on the Planet Ocean GMT for a few years, but that HEV is what prevents me from pulling the trigger.

But what about the helium? How will it escape? Is it destined to be trapped in watches forever? SAVE HELIUM!!!

It’s iconic. It’s gotta stay... Plus it’s a great conversation piece...I told a girl at a party if I unscrew it then our voices will go up an octave. Not sure if she was laughing with me or at me ! ::facepalm1::
