Or, it was caught but they hoped the owner wouldn't notice since it was pretty banged up to begin with.
If that is from polishing, I would be livid that they polished the case (you told them not to, right?). If you do replace the bezel, go decimal or something different You have a great excuse.
True, but you still have a screwed up watch which will require further intervention to fix, IF Omega accepts responsibility. No assurance there. Good luck.
I've reached out to Omega. Let's see how this progresses. Also they have confirmed that they polished the case, thats right. They polished the case on a new watch that was purchased six months earlier that had no need to be polished, even after I had asked them to leave the case as is. Apparently a polish is just part of the service even if you don't need it!
Looking at your first pictures, it seemed obvious that they did something to the case. Especially between the pushers.
I did think it was weird that they weren’t charging me for a plexiglass replacement or service. Maybe they new they screwed up?
Yes, very odd that they offered to replace the crystal and do a free movement overhaul on owner caused damage. Was it still running ok after you dropped it? The whole story still doesn't sound right.
Love the grey NATO, that's how I wear mine too. Also, is there more of that "ghosting" on the very bottom (from 110 or so to 150, near the edge)? Might be on the edge near 70 too.
Little update: Shortly after a call/email to Omega I had an email response from the head of customer services. "The marks to the bezel appear to be heat marks. This has occurred during the cleaning process and I’m very sorry this wasn’t picked up at our final quality control." They have offered to replace the bezel. A pretty quick response from them, they seem keen to get this rectified as quickly as possible.
It looks to me like they polished the case with the bezel on. Heat marks? from pushing so hard on the polishing wheel that the anodized finish burnt off. This is CYA on Omega's part.
You have noticed and raised a query on the work undertaken, have owned up to an error on their part, apologised and have offered to resolve by replacing the bezel. To be honest I would be a little niffed this happened to my pride and joy when sent in for a repair but they are doing their upmost to rectify the issue. The only downsides I see is more time off the wrist and if you have an issue with replacement parts on your relatively new watch?? Hopefully a better repair this time!
