I must be in the minority here, but the curvature of the case between the lugs of the GM is giving me OCD. Why could they not use the case contour of the speedmaster and aquaterra cases in this area? The case protrudes out past the bezel here and it just comes across to me as a cost savings shortcut, like they didn't want to spend the time necessary to fully machine the case.

A flush to bezel contour here and an appropriately redesigned end link would take this watch from a NO to a MAYBE for me. As it looks now, I don't even feel like trying it on 🙁. Also, the date window at 6 isn't helping either.
Ha, you have a good eye for detail. I hadn't even remarked this protrusion. Now I cannot unsee it 😁

Rolex didn’t do that or the fluted bezel first.

Pretty sure the day-date predates the globe master by a huge margin. Massive.

And I never said anything about fluted bezels.

The case is contoured to not follow the bezel because it is based off of the c case constellation models. Definitely not a cost cutting measure, and looks very intentional to my eyes if you’re familiar with the c case legacy. As others have said, the Rolex references, either due to case, bezel or date window, don’t really hold much weight when one realizes the Omega vintage models the GMs design draws from. I personally like having a date window as it makes it more useful as a daily wearer, and the symmetry feels more contemporary and clean to me.

I see no Rolex DNA in the piece. I never did. Some people argues the fluted bezel was, but fluted bezels on Omegas predate Rolex using them. I see a pure omega style case.

Come on. Look at a day-date case, look at the c case and look at the GM. No contest, the GM drew from the rolex.

FWIW, I'm not a rolex fanboy, I'm an omega guy, but even I can admit they took design cues from the day-date.

The c case doesnt even have a rebated area between the lugs like the GM and DD clearly have.

It’s very difficult to convey the beauty of the Globemaster’s pie pan dial in a photograph, but here’s one of my better attempts.

Odd everyone else just sees the old school Omega lugs. Maybe I’ve looked at too many thousands of watch designs and examined the shared DNA of brands to see clearly. I clearly do not see oyster case DNA in the GM.

I too only see Omega DNA. The fluting on the GM is almost identical to that of the c case, and significantly different to that of Rolex. The same goes for the case shape, hands etc. Putting all 3 watches side by side I find it hard to see how the differences are not obvious, but it seems there’s at least some subjectivity when it comes to perception.

I tried on both the blue and the pearl colored dials. I love the pearl color on the white dial, but I wish the hands were silver. Something about the black hands kills it for me and I don’t like the blue face as much... although you seem to get a better sense of the pie pan with it over the pearl.

Wait, the hands on the white dial are actually black ? I wasn't so sure looking through the pictures/videos. That actually makes this colour scheme appealing to me 😁

Once it arrives, I will post the photo of my everyday watch trio 😉

for now the 2 mentioned:

Is that a 36mm Datejust? or is it just the photo that is making the AT look significantly larger than the Datejust?

The hands are blackened steel, so when viewing the watch head on and from some angles, they appear black. At different angles they appear various tones of polished stainless steel. I too like it when the hands appear black against the dial... it adds a very contrasting graphic quality. Paired with the dark gray leather strap, the dial really pops.

It’s 41mm DJ. The photo and perspective makes AT look bigger

The only people calling this a “fluted bezel” are those who haven’t handled this or a DJ next to each other. The Omega is much closer to a coin edge than a flute, and the watch is far better for it. These two couldn’t be more different, in my opinion.

I don’t have any professional camera so those are quick shots from iPhone. Each of them has their own unique features but all of them are really great everyday watches.

looking at them side by side, GM seems to be the biggest although only 39mm. DJ looks small due to widest bezel.

does GM plays nice with light? I believe so, especially hands.

when it comes to bracelets, DJ wins for me, 2nd place goes to AT and 3rd to GM as it doesn’t have any micro adjustment or even half links so adjusting the bracelet to fit perfectly is a challenge.
