Welcome to OF, good job asking for feedback before buying.

The watch is legit, but in awful condition. TBH, you really can't get a decent Omega for that price. If you truly want a vintage Omega, I'd suggest finding a way to increase your budget, do some research, and follow the sale listings and eBay threads on this forum.

If your budget is capped at that level, I'd suggest looking at other brands that sell for less of a premium.

Thanks for the reply. What’s a good budget for something like this? I’m a bit hesitant as it’s my first vintage watch but I could increase budget.

Unless you know what you’re looking for and can buy without asking for advice I’d say you need a minimum of £350-400 in the UK and a bit of patience. It’s possible to buy a decent watch for less but by the time you’ve asked for opinions it will be gone.
If you want one urgently you’ll likely need to pay closer to £450 or more if you’re looking at a Seamaster.

I’m a fan of Geneves but you really need to look for a better example as @Davidt suggests.

The dial and case are too worn/damaged, hence the asking price.

Gold/plated watches are currently, IMO, less sought after because 1) the plating can be over polished and 2) because stainless steel is more wearable in this day and age - both with suits or jeans.

If you want a manual wind 601 (no date) or 613 (quick change date) or automatic 552 (no date) or 565 (quick change date). The last two movements are also in Seamasters and are reliable, comparatively easy to service and parts are available.

My favourite Geneve is the 166.041 which wears rather bigger on the wrist than your current model but there are a lot better out there.

Edit: Whilst there are some very good Japanese sellers, some Japanese and others edit their photos so that the dials appear whiter and unblemished ….

This could be a better option?

Take your time and see what style of Geneve you really want.

Then see what they go for in decent condition. See if you can spot any issues yourself then post pics and let us know what you found out.

People are always more happier to help when they see you put some time into investigating.

The one you have is all original but tired. The dial is patinated and the case is poor. The movement looks like it would do with a good clean and service based on the state of it.

Once you sort out most of that, you wouldn’t even break even compared to a good condition example.

Just my 2 cents.
