·Hi everyone,
I’ve recently purchased a 1970s Omega Genève Automatic Day-Date (ref. 166.0174 / 366.0833, cal. 1022) and would really appreciate your expertise.
I’m particularly interested in whether the charcoal-grey dial is original. The bold, uppercase “GENEVE” lettering looks quite different from the thinner, mixed-case lettering I’ve seen on most examples.
I’ve found similar models, but haven’t managed to confirm whether this particular dial variation is factory-original.
Does anyone recognise this dial or have examples with matching typography?
I’ve attached photos of the dial, movement and caseback. Apologies for the rather poor-quality photos supplied by the seller!
I’m hoping to establish whether the dial is original before the watch arrives, so I can decide whether to keep it, arrange a return if necessary, or potentially source and fit a correct replacement dial myself.
I’d be very grateful for any thoughts or examples of similar dials. Thanks in advance for your help!
