Jim, you're the exception then

And I agree with you about the NATO straps. Awful thing to put on a nice watch !
I have a large stash of very good NATO’s, I really tried to like them, honestly, I have- but they are bulky, and I just can’t get over the wart on the back of my wrist- always catching on sleeves and such. I do have a few RAF style (which are the same as the US Mil issue from 40’s-today; single strip of nylon with buckle and fabric keeper) that are just a plain pull through, some in leather, they are actually lovely.

Or the pilgrim straps we see so often (the rusticated slab-o-leather with the two horizontal stitches at the top) that are commonly marketed as “vintage” these days. They didn’t exist prior to the 90’s and no self respecting company would have ever put such an unfinished and unrefined strap on a watch.
So, is that the name they generally go by? If so, thank you, thank you - at last I can more easily tell folks, "I'd be interested, if only you'd get rid of that #$**% pilgrim strap". Also, thanks for confirming they really are a faux vintage invention, cos I never saw one when I was young!

I call them Pilgrim straps, not an official term. There was a thread not long ago where these were discussed and someone here (can’t remember who) posted a link to the history of that style which I believe was first from Jean Rousseau back in the 90’s- if someone remembers the link to the page, please share.

I thought the 1##.041 only had one case style.

I would be interested to see others.

I hope these rough pictures can explain what I mean. I observed also that the short lug version has soleil finish, while the long lug one has a straight finish.

So watches with the same reference have diffrent lug shapes? Because I presume both watches in the pictures are 135.041 models

In any case it might be an unpopular opinion but i really like the 1xx.041 references. 👍 It's been a while i've been searching for a clean one at the right price😁

This just complicates the whole picture even more. And i don't have the will power to order multiples of the same reference to get the one i like/need.
