Actually, I looked at it again and it was indeed an easy (30-second) fix. Both ELs are now exactly as they should be and operating correctly. The problem was the end of one of the internal spring bars was not protruding through the hole in the EL. As you can see in the picture below, it is now properly sticking out (previously, it was “inside” the EL, if that makes sense). I just gently put my spring bar tool inside the EL and popped the end of the spring bar out through the hole). Just to clarify, the end of that protruding spring bar was “inside” the EL before — now it’s protruding correctly. Hope that makes sense!
