If anything, this thread has spurred me to look into a 168.004.

Noooo...! damn the original poster for sparking more interest than is already out there ! 🤦

There's a 'dodgy' one for sale in the UK today (short hands -posted previously) and a 'buy it now' on UK ebay for £750 (looks good to but too much money)
-both gold cap

I just want a nice dome dial SS 546........with two-tone pencil hands
-not much to ask for is it?

Cristos, trade it for a far easier to photograph sunburst pie pan? 😀

that is amazing @cristos71
congratulations!

the lettering looks as though it floats above the surface of the dial
great macro photography

more pics please!
tricky or not -I'd like to see the whole watch
front, back, sides -the lot

I'm not sure this is the right thread to post a watch assessment @browncow -you would probably get more responses if it had its own thread

my views:
Fonts looks good on dial -mismatching Ms, Chronometre, etc all good
The outer edge of the dial looks though it has been repainted -could have been some corrosion around the outer edge -and is now coming off
hands look tired -and lume looks very aged
SWISS MADE -no Ts but that whole subject confuses me -but definitely repainted (badly)
replacement (thicker) crown -but possibly correct for the era?
case is polished but not too bad -lugs have just lost their edge
medallion is slightly worn despite what the seller says -but not too bad
movement looks a bit 'bleached' in places and as though it has some corrosion spotting on lower plates (out of focus) -could be signs of historical water ingress and corrosion being cleaned -and explain the repainted outer edge of the dial
strap not period -but goes well with the watch

$1,600 -silly price -quite expensive even if it was perfect

hope that helps

No no I wasn't asking for an assessment.
The OP (Roger) was looking for Pie-Pan recommendations, and I remembered this one that I came across.
Not endorsing the offered watch in any way.

Hey Guys,

Just a quick question: I'm wondering are there different size variants of the 168.004 Constellation hidden crown? I've been doing a lot of research on the internet and have found the information a bit conflicting. Some of the Constellation hidden crown watches I've seen are listed as 34mm and others at 36mm. The Omega database has this watch listed at 35.5mm. I've seen a couple advertised as a 'jumbo' hidden crown. Was there ever a 'jumbo' version of the 168.004 produced or is this just creative advertising?

Thanks!

Henry

Not to my knowledge, but there was a model, Ref. 168.001, that was a "Jumbo". It didn't have a hidden crown, though.

The confusing part about the Ref. 168.004 is that while those that have the original crown are flush with the case, that thin crown doesn't have a modern equivalent.

So those with Omega OEM replacements have the crown stick out a little bit.

That could cause the measurements to vary a bit.

That's what I am thinking too. It seems a few people are listing the 35.5mm 168.004 as a 'jumbo' 36mm model. Here is an example of one that recently sold. http://m.ebay.com/itm/131770847156

Are all the 168.004 Constellation hidden crown models the same diameter?

This is one I have found for sale online - am I correct in thinking this is the 168.004 35.5mm hidden crown model ?

Cheers!
