Omega constellation pie pan 167.005 : is this one real ?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying this Omega Constellation Pie Pan 167.005 for around €1,900.

I don’t see any red flags, but I’m not an expert - does it look authentic to you?

Also, the “Swiss Made T” seems to indicate that the hands have tritium - is that correct? (I’m not sure how to spot it in the photos.)

Does the price seems right to you ?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

The watch seems correct(better pictures would be helpful), I see better a 7 row BOR with those Connies, but this is up to you. I would offer around 1500 € .

Based on these pictures, I'd say this looks pretty good and legit. More detail is always better, for instance to spot spotting (no pun intended) and get a better feel for the condition of the case. Both are crucial and commonly seen detractors of value on these models. That said, this one - for lack of more detailed evidence - looks good.

As to a value and knowing this is a no-date, which is more rare (about 1 in 10 is without date), I would expect 1500 EUR is a little too low, even factoring in the incorrect 5 row BOR. Good luck on landing this piece!

welcome @Takeo

as above, the watch looks correct from the poor pictures.

Its difficult to see any detail in the lugs or dial - all may be well but I would want decent pictures before putting any money down.

One thing to note about the BOR, not only is it the less-preferred style for a dog leg, but also it looks as though it has very few removable links left and so is likely to only fit a very small wrist. (and additional links are hard to find)

I would ask for a better pic to evaluate upper lugs, lower look ok

I’ve received some new photos from the seller. I think the dial is in good condition? The case does have some scratches and dings, but in my opinion nothing shocking for a vintage watch at this price? From a normal viewing distance, it should be fine and not too noticeable.

What do you think?

Lugs seem way too damaged ... Considering the price isn't a "steal", I honestly would skip It...

Dial is imho nice 👍👍👍

Thanks for your feedback.

In your opinion, what would be a fair price given the condition of the lugs?

I feel like the watch is still in very good condition considering the asking price (compared to what I see elsewhere) but i may be wrong

In your opinion, what’s the issue with the lugs being damaged? Is it just scratches, or it could become more "serious" with time ?

Do you see something else than scratches ?

I imagine that from a distance it won’t be too noticeable, and that I’d probably have to spend around €3,000 to get the same watch without the scratches.

You’re looking at chrono24 / dealer prices and the members are talking about private sales prices.

I think the ‘damage’ talked about is the lack of facets on the lugs - which is the specific delight of the dogleg case.

It might be the particular case manufacturer but there is something not quite right with those lugs.

Check out the 168.005/168.005 thread to see what the lugs should look like.

€1900 is too much for this watch (€3,000 would be ridiculous even for a very very good example)

So it’s the edges of the lugs that look unusual to you. maybe they’ve been over-polished?

The problem is, I’d like to buy a Pie Pan in a safe way, and around where I live there’s only one professional dealer able to source me one, and he won’t find me a Pie Pan for less than €2,200–€2,500.

On Chrono24, I thought I was getting a “good deal”, but here you seem to be saying it’s way too expensive.

The safest way (not to be ripped off) would be to watch the private sales section on OF.

Ok thank you I will check them

One more question about the lugs : does the same seem unusual to you ? To me it looks less elongated than what I see on pictures

The lugs on some dogleg cases can appear slimmer than others (manufacturer variation) and or photographic angle.

But all lugs should have continuous facets.
Compare

Exactly, that was what I meant.

I’d be looking for something like this:

Not NOS... But in these Dog Legs Connie, Good Facets are crucial IMHO 😍😍

Of course the price is not bad! But If you buy it, don't polish it too much, or you will end up with soft lugs 😭😭

You might want to factor in the cost for the correct 7 row BOR bracelet (1037 with 70 end links). Which would be $200-$250. The 7 row looks and feels better in my opinion.
