After some back and forth negotiations with the seller and asking him for more details, I think he finally caved. One of his latest messages to me was "If you care about the original dial, you should buy another one". Lol. Thanks Omega Forums for another close call.

That matt greying effect is what happens when someone uninformed washes a dial and does not reapply any lacquer to the paint, the surface oxidises and I doubt it can be undone with a later application of lacquer. Hence the dial has no gloss, and a strange grey surface but seemingly correct fonts - the text survives a wash with this type of dial. The seller even admitted it was "cleaned" so he is not being dishonest.

It is possible someone washed a redial with exceptionally close fonts to an original but that would be more improbable than it just being a ruined original and would have likely removed the text. The bad image quality/greying is enough to confuse everyone but this is the most likely answer. I am not 100% certain though.

Ultimately the hands are all wrong/aftermarket, wrong crown, bad case and even if original someone ruined the dial so it is a pass.

The other point I should mention is the lacquer may well of been totally ruined and the dial looking very damaged pre-cleaning but the paint underneath can survive in near enough perfect condition on these, you just need a real artisan restorer to re-apply the glossy finish if you are going to clean one - an expensive lesson for someone. It probably looked nice for half an hour before it went grey. 😝

This watch located in Garden Grove, California correct? I think I saw it a few days ago on Facebook Marketplace. Also, it's redialed in my opinion.

Yes. On FB marketplace. We agreed on a price, but then after some prodding, the seller finally admit it was refinished/not original dial.
