You are looking for a 1210/202 bracelet. They are relatively easy to find. There is one on ebay at the moment for £325.

According to my watchmaker, the battery needs to be replaced. Do you know how much something like that can cost? In order for me to find out, the watch would first have to be sent to Omega
If there is a local watchmaker near you, and I don’t mean the guy in the mall, take the watch in and he will be able to replace the battery and fit a new protective gasket and set the watch for you. I estimate it will cost about £20.

Absolutely no need to send it to Omega unless it’s actually damaged.

The watchmaker may well be able to supply you with and fit a reasonably priced strap or bracelet so that you can enjoy the watch.

I was by two watchmakers, one of them Omega dealers, both would send it to Omega to have a cost estimate. My watchmaker sad they must replace the Battery(German: Akku) and it would cost more than 200€

I have three cal 1250 Omegas. To change the battery, you must unscrew the caseback. I use a watchmaker's caseback ball.

You'll then need a fine edged screw driver (about the size used to adjust the ear pieces if you wear glasses).

You then loosen the battery holder screw, remove the battery and replace it.

Sometimes it may take a little bit of adjustment to get it sitting right.

At least that way, you’ll know if the watch is working correctly or not.

If not, post where you live and someone will be able to recommend a private watch repair that specialises in this sort of watch

I sent the Omega watch to Omega Germany and received a cost estimate.
Repairs will cost between €1,201 and €1,900. The watch must be sent to headquarters Switzerland where it will be processed within nine months.

Crazy price and awaiting time. With that sum of money, you can get 2-3 pieces, nice, serviced, with new battery and original bracelet IMO.

A replacement battery costs about £10
A Renata 344 costs £1.55 at Cousins. Not arguing, just wondering if I'm missing something.

You're not missing anything. The OP asked for advice, received it, chose a different path, and provided an update. [missing that cuckoo smiley]

You typically order watch batteries in 30 packs (since they are such a good deal!), then leave them in your 'watch battery drawer' until they expire. Those things have costs!

No need to attack anyone, Dan.
My watchmaker said it was the battery, which is why I asked for information.
I myself have neither the time nor the patience to repair the watch.
According to Omega, however, there is more damage to the watch than just the battery.
It's clear that this cannot be seen from the outside.

Eh, Omega has a bit of a 'replace it all, and let god sort it out!' approach, perhaps even more so now that you're paying for it 😁

Spending its value in repair costs seems... financially silly. Presumably you're considering it because of the sentimental value, but you should see if you can find an independent watchmaker near you with an Omega parts account, and see what ACTUALLY needs to be replaced.

Please note: Omega service center isn't going to leave basically ANYTHING original. They'll replace dial, hands, etc at a whim. It won't be nearly the watch you inherited, and IMO, destroys the sentimental value in addition to any collect-ability.

I think the price estimate by Omega is extremly fair. You will not get anything remotely close let alone better than an Omega Constellation 2,4MHz Megaquartz for that price range besides maybe a kidney on the black market or anything else in this world.. Jokes aside, even if you are willing to pay more than the watch is worth for the repair, which is fine if there is sentimental value connected to it, you can get that done so much cheaper than 1201€

I see two on ebay that are functional?

This one in the UK has a soft case, but is listed ~$800 US.

This one is sharper from Japan (obviously import costs are insane in the US thanks to tariffs), but is $1000 + shipping (so $1500 for me, likely less to a different location) :

Thank you for your replies 😀
Like you, I also think the price is excessive, even as a loan. In the end, I'm paying £1,500 for an inherited watch that no longer has any original parts.
I'm now going to look for a local watchmaker. In another thread, the name Robin Israel Oppenheim came up.
