Hey so I just received this vintage Omega from eBay. It’s an omega constellation 168.005 with a cal 561 movement, this is what was in the description. I think it is gold capped, last serviced 12/22, and and the dial was “restored”. I want to get a ballpark valuation to see how badly I got got. I think it looks a little too knew but I currently enjoy it. The pictures of the inside of the watch are the ones that were provided to me because I won’t open it myself. The other pictures I took.

Value is around 800-1000 USD based on the polished lugs, and potentially restored dial (although the text looks okay, but I’d need to see a bigger picture). I do want to point out that the strap it’s on is too big, and is bunching up at the sides - the lug width is 18mm, not 20 as indicated on that strap.

Vintage watches can look ‘new’ if they’ve been well looked after/are in good condition.

Shame about the medallion on the case back too, there's supposed to be 8 stars but it seems to have been either worn or polished off. I would try to return the watch if I can.

Thank you for the input. I did realize that about the strap, but I just haven’t gotten around to putting a correct one on yet. I tried to provide a bigger picture of the dial.

I think this is a good entry level Connie, it just needs a new crown and strap, and to be honest I doubt that is a redial. If that is not the original dial I am going to need the contact of whoever did it. Passes the MOY test, I can see serifs even on the 15 minute dash and all minute markers are perfectly aligned. I guess if you got got bad will depend on the price.

Thank you. I counted 8 but 5 of them are worn. I don’t think I can return.

Thank you. Entry level Connie is what I wanted. I’m looking for a perfect 18k gold constellation pie pan from the 60s as the next step. I paid $930 for it.

In the current market, you did reasonably well. I’m not convinced this is a redial as there is some aging on the dial and the font looks correct for the era.

Case has been polished a bit aggressively. That’s going to hold back future value should you decide to sell one day.

I would not invest in a proper crown, as it will be difficult and expensive to find a thin 10-sided crown. You seem to have the suggested Omega replacement there. Instead, invest in a proper service.

Hope this helps,

You did ok! I have the same reference with a similar dial and like the others above noted, your dial looks a-ok to me. Here’s mine for comparison:

Next step is buying a pie pan dial but if you find a black dome, don't miss it.

Black dial, 18k sounds sweet.

Intruiging question. You just acquired it on (arguably) the largest market of the world so what you paid may well be the value...

You’ve done fine. To be honest I also think that the dial is original - perhaps ‘restored’ might mean they cleaned it gently. It looks pretty good. As others are saying the only thing really letting it down is the polished case, but at $930 that’s to be expected. Wear and enjoy!
