Hello everyone,
This is my first post. I’m 16 and just getting into watch collecting. I’m a huge fan of vintage omega, but I have a long way to go to be able to authenticate and correctly judge them. I saw this watch listed as a cal. 286 but not much more information, so I thought it would be a good idea for more experienced folks to take a look and see if there’s anything I should be worried about.

thank you very much in advance 😀

Before you buy. Check the movement for condition and make sure it’s clean.

second. If from a dealer. Ask if serviced as you will need to have that done if you wish or wear as is.

later on. Can see about buying a signed crown and having it installed.

If you want a museum quality collectors grade watch, this is not it. If you like it and the movement is good, $300 is a fair price.

The service it probably needs will cost $300 - $400.

Looks legit except for unsigned replacement crown, which isn't a dealbreaker IMO. It has some condition issues, but I don't think you'll easily find a better vintage Omega at that price.

Get a movement photo from a seller....... the movement needs to be decent ! If the seller cant or wont ĝive u a picture, walk away and keep looking.

If I were you, I’d keep an eye on the forum sales postings here. You’ll get a better watch for the same or less money.

For example, there’s a nice 9ct gold Longines currently for sale at the same price (in GBP) and in overall much better condition, from a known and respected user 😀
