Not a fan of the new Railmaster, but the one in the Trilogy set...that is a stunner.

To me the new Railmaster is neither fish nor fowl. Either go indices and/or numerals, not some mish-mash of both. They'd have been better off looking at the Dynamic 3 for styling cues.

I even suggested it here https://omegaforums.net/threads/which-watch-model-would-you-revive.51535/

Put Railmaster on the dial and maybe offer a couple of dial colours (white and blue come to mind) and I reckon you'd be on to a winner 馃憤
Only issue there I think is that the Dynamic gen 3 wan't a hot seller so perhaps they don't feel celebrating a watch which was already a homage to the 1953 RAF design but bombed due to dubious confused marketing and being a 36mm watch in a 38-39mm world. In 2000-2001, Dynamics could be found in dealers being cleared out at half price ie 拢250 such a slow seller were they. Now a good one is 拢750 plus. Interestingly the 1957 Railmaster was also said to have been influenced by the 1953 RAF design so the 2 share some similar DNA which may explain the design echoes.

This is not criticism of the design in any way, mine was my first Omega purchase (with my own money) and I will literally never part with it. At one point it was recovered by the police from a nearby street when fortunately the scrote who burgled us dropped it climbing a fence. Fate decreed it was to stay with me unlike the mid sized SMP which was lost. To be replaced by a full size, never looked back!

The Dynamic was my first Omega too and I've been very attached to it these 18 years...

Hi guys, thanks for the kind (and humorous) words.

Its almost Wednesday, and this whole Basel/Omega storm seems a way off...the brain can focus on other things than glorious time-pieces for longer than 1h...problem is now I want to go back and check those watches out all over again...

I know that no amount of writing can 'take you there', but I kind of tried (how bizarre) : during the train ride home, in my state (not sure what to call it / how to describe it but I am sure some of you know) I empathised with those of you who would love to go but are not geographically dispositioned to...in closing this thread i share the reason for opening it.

And now if I could just ween myself off of OmegaForums I might just get some sleep...

Best regards,
Eugene

PS: Railmaster non LE!

(pps: i would like to see in the flesh again 馃榾 it was all a dream...)

I have to say that the Speedy Racing grey dial looks also look pretty cool to me.

Thanks @Riviera Paradise, thats the one...it looked m i g h t y fine in the flesh...very vibrant...was playing the 'which one would I pick' mind-game and that was top 2...man, Omega have really made it difficult this year...

That grey dial racing speedy is currently one of my top shopping list options for 2017...can't wait to see the Speedie Racing collection live!

What about the some-love-others-hate non-LE AT Railmaster? My opinion is that this is similar to the Rolex Air King launched last year at Basel 2016...the non-LE Railmaster seems to be Omega's "controversial" design for Basel 2017.

Two quick questions:

1. Does the movement in this watch have the jumping hour hand feature which is really useful for travel between time zones?
2. How does it wear/look on the wrist compared to the Railmaster LE and a standard AT?

Thanks!

Cheers,

RP

1) http://watchbase.com/omega/caliber/8806 -> all I can find. Seems like a plain (very decent) automatic.
2) absolutely no idea...but here is more info
- (contains wrist shots) https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/t...r-the-surprise-favorite-of-the-show-live-pics
LE Railmaster...yet to see side-on wrist shots...perhaps one of the other folk here can point out some pics...
