·Flashback to 2020, before the pandemic started. I serviced Omega 8500 and this is one of the best timegrapher results I had so far after working on many Omega 8500 caliber since 2008 or 2009.
After a few upgrades to eliminate some issues and flaws. It's one of the most accurate watches I have ever come across so far. Thanks to the twin Barrel, coaxial, and silicon hairspring. Hour wheel is still an issue these days and a very rare issue with accuracy related. The only time I have issues with COSC accuracy is when the CH and 9H position is out of COSC spec due to a worn out balance staff, so I have to replace the complete balance wheel to eliminate this issue and and keep all positions in the COSC tolerances range.
Every after service, I do a few adjustments with an omega tool to regulate the timing screw.
One of my favorite watches to work on and I have a lot of respect for this Omega movement, nothing more than a state of the art when comes to accuracy with 60 hours of power reserve. I feel that Omega doesn't get enough credit for this.
Love to know what timekeeping is like now after three years of service. I love to see how it holds up 30 years after that.
For those who worked on it. What are your thoughts on Omega 8500 accuracy?
