Well if you tink it's a worry then you should take it to the watch doctor!

Hi @bigtriangle68, any follow-up on your problem?
I have a 3861 hesalite, and lately I started to hear the same intermittent noise when my Speedy is fully wound.
Mine still does it. Seems somewhat common. I think it must be a known issue within Omega. Not sure what causes it or if there is an Omega fix.

To add to the knowledge base, what month and year did you purchase yours?

I haven't sent mine in for warranty repair yet because I've heard horror stories about Omega service. I'd like Omega to announce a fix before sending mine in for repair.

I reckon that little 'snick' sound is the mainspring rearranging itself to even out tension over all its windings, after advancing the train a certain amount. There is a bit of friction between the windings, and as the spring unwinds there can be a sudden slip between layers with a certain regularity.
I don't think this is something that needs fixing.

That could happen with a watch that badly requires service. But even then, several time a minute? Uh Uh!

Interpreted as: "sudden detachment of adjacent coil adhesion due to a badly/incorrectly lubricated mainspring"?

This sounds like a feasible explanation. I haven’t heard this ‘snick’ sound in my other watches, including a white Speedy having the same 3861 caliber, but it is also true that my hesalite Speedy is ticking louder than most of my other watches.

IMO an unlikely scenario for this noise. Likely not related to the mainspring.

I agree, I was trying to understand the previous post with a dose of humour.
Anyway.
The engine of my 2024 VW T-ROC R makes a bang every twenty or thirty seconds while driving down the freeway. Not loud enough to concern me, but it feels like someone hitting the firewall with a 500gm rubber mallet.
Do you know what it could be?
The car is under five year warranty, do you think I should take it back to the dealer for diagnosis?

Omega service is not a "horror story", it just takes forever. Two months seems to be the timeframe. My white 3861 was gone almost exactly that last summer.

I guess that all depends on one's personal definition of horror, what horrifies one person may not horrify another, but if someone is so easily horrified, then the whole concept of watch service and repair may not be for them, as such is the backlog of work that all watch doctors seem to have and the time consuming nature of the work, that it always takes time to get your watch back. Albeit from an independent or Omega.
Time is the very nature of the beast when it comes to watches......One must be patient!

It's a fact that there are multiple 1st hand accounts on various watch forums of Omega watches returning from the Omega service department with damage to the case that didn't exist prior to service. That's a horror story in my book. If I ever send my watch in for an Omega warranty service, I would insist on no polishing. And I'm sure as hell not sending it in to Omega now only to wait 6 months or more for it to return when there is NO OMEGA PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of this noise issue, which multiple people on this forum are now experiencing.

I'm not experiencing it, and I have four 3861s.

Hello, my speed master 3861 shows the same behaviour when fully rewind, for me it is the spring rearranging itself. I see no issue, defect or complain to have here. By the way my watch keeps perfect time…

Outside of shouting it out of your kitchen window, this is probably the least effective way of getting this message to Swatch I can think of.

You might want to contact them directly with your concerns...

I visited an Omega Boutique a long time ago to discuss the issue. They hadn't heard of this 3861 issue and said I might be without the watch for 6 months or more if I sent it in for warranty service. So I didn't submit it for warranty service yet. I may submit it before the warranty expires next year.

I just contacted Omega via their website. I'll report back on what they say.

Are any Omega employees members of this forum?
