Hi All,

Wishing everyone all the best for 2022. I found this Omega 300 can anyone give me advice on this? Value? Originality? What to look out for.

Thanks,

Well the watch itself, case, hands, dial, bezel look excellent. Does the extract back up the military provenance?

Is this a watch you own, or are you considering a purchase? Just want to know how we can help you since you didn't provide much context,

Hi sorry yes I would like to purchase. The extract does back up the military history.

Rather than drip feeding, perhaps you could post everything you know about this watch?

Otherwise members may be wasting their generously donated time, trying to figure out various aspects which you may already know.

That's a serious watch, selling in the neighborhood of $50k USD at auction. So I agree with @Davidt that you might want to be a little less enigmatic. This obviously isn't a watch for a newbie, so you probably have some sense of what you are looking at.

Hi sorry I have no intention to waist anyones time. I was offered the watch for 2300 euro it has a extract from omega that I have seen it was built in 1967 if I recall correctly. I do not know what information is wanted or needed. I am sincerely sorry I did not provide this before. Thanks for any advice.

I would fly there and pick it up for that.
Please post a wrist shot once you have it.

Well now I feel it could be a scam…I was not aware it could be worth that much especially at the price it’s offered for.

Even with no military provenance, a 60’s Seamaster 300 with such a sharp case, original bezel and dial with attractive lume would be worth in excess of €2300 even in a ‘sold as seen’ private sale.

I’d suggest perhaps some research into the seller as this must either be a scam or a completely ignorant buyer (unless there’s something that I’m not seeing in the pictures).

Hi,

thanks for that advice. I stumbled over this searching for a Ranchero. I saw this and thought it would probably be worth a little more but wanted an opinion from the experts on this forum. I am no Omega expert at all. So apologies again if anyone feels I have waisted your time. I will contact the seller and see how real this deal is. Thanks to everyone again for the info and advice provided.

Now worries. I wasn’t saying you’ve wasted anyone’s time. I was simply saying it’s easier if you start off with everything you know and we go from there, otherwise we’re wasting time filling in blanks as we go.

Do a bit more digging and come back with an update. We’ll be happy to help you out.

Good luck!

I think it is strange that someone who bothered ordering an extract (be it the current seller or any of the previous owners) would not know the real value of the watch and sell it for pennies.

Having said that even if the military engraved caseback is faked out, the rest of the watch is worth considerably more than the asking price. If it was a face to face deal I would not think it twice. Otherwise it will probably end in a “it was too good to be true” type of scam.
