Hi all,

So I'm looking to buy an older Seamaster 105005 with the 321 movement inside it. I just think they're a better size for my wrist at only 35mm and 41mm lug to lug.

I just needed a bit of advice. I'm looking at a listing on Chrono24 right now, and I wanted to know what sort of things to look for a check to make sure it's all genuine and original.

Here's the listing.

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/se...45222386.htm?searchHash=edc14bc7_6JvMD0&pos=1

Also, what's a reasonable price to pay for the watch?

Thank you.

Please post photos of both the seller's photos and his assertions.

The Chrono24 listing will disappear at some stage but, for future reference purposes, photos and information published here will remain accessible.

Just to point out that the seller is asking £3,949.00

These are super nice watches, I think they are wonderful, even the gold ones - especially the gold ones actually as they make a great dress watch, with the Calibre 321 connection to Speedmasters.

As to price / value. These are rare - but rarity does not necessarily transmute into value. Much harder to find than a similar age speedmaster.

In general as a super rough guide they hover in price around half the commensurate Speedmaster. After that, its all up to you.

That said this one has got a few issues that would make it valued in the lower range. That dial is damaged and a little poor overall.

Luminous missing from all the indexes. Older refinish?

Dial appears to be in original condition but as was already pointed out, it has some issues. I have a 105.004 in 18k and recently purchased a 105.005 in stainless from an online auction in Switzerland, for approx 3600 euros. Condition is STELLAR. For that much money, I personally only want a dial in pristine condition. If you like the case size, also look at the 105.004 as the main difference will be in the lug design.

I'm wearing my 105.004 for a Roger Smith lecture tonight and the other photo is the 105.005 I very recently purchased but haven't had shipped to the US, yet. You'll notice, both are without the tachymetre on the dial. If you're willing to be patient, you'll find a clean dial out there. It took me YEARS to find the watch in stainless, at the right price, with the non-tachy dial. With the tachymetre, this watch will be much easier to come across, so if you want a clean look, you only need to have the patience to wait for it.

Movement looks clean is a good point

I would say this example is not the best at that price
You will find many other similar models even in better condition

At 3.6K I must say you scored a bargain, especially with the bracelete. Even though the 105.005 is most common 321, I would peg a very good raw example - with no service history - at at least 4K. Yes, a stellar dial is non-negotiable, as are the non-scratched/ non-polished lugs. Great find!
