Looking to buy my first vintage omega and I found this Omega De Ville at a local watch store (UK).
Reference: 192.0044.
I’m very new to this space so any advice would be appreciated.
Original dial and all functions are working.

Thanks!!

A 50 year old quartz movement in a tired gold plated case.
I would definitely avoid it, especially at GBP400.

If this artifact ever requires repair, expect parts to be unavailable, or very costly. Plating worn through to the brass base metal. Don’t let the flowery description romance you into acquiring an asset you’ll regret.

Thank you!! What would you recommend instead and what should I look out for to find a decent piece?

also, does it help if the store has said that it has been serviced?

Not one little bit. "Serviced" could anything from 'we opened the back and no moths came out so we closed it up' all the way to a full trip to Omega in Bienne. But that last would cost 150% of the current asking price so count on this alleged work being at the very cheap end of the scale. As @JimInOz said that case looks very weary and there's no effort to make it look better in the photos, which is odd considering the glitzyness of their normal stock.

The first thing that came to my mind seeing the title: Don't.
