I purchased a 2996 seamaster "seachero" in really good honest condition.
I age the watch around 1959 and I did a bit of research after purchasing this watch but I cannot find another one with a Naiad crown.
The crown kind of makes sense but I'm wondering if it's original to the watch or a later addition when serviced?

I'd love your guys expertise and thoughts.

I’ll defer to our experts, but I believe that both the 2990 and 2996 cases use the bowler hat style crown. That’s what I have on both my Ranchero 2990 and Seachero 2990 with subsecond dials. I recently sold a Seachero with a 2996 case and that had the bowler hat style crown as well. The 2990 and 2996 cases are identical. The only difference is that the case back on the 2996 is domed to accommodate the slightly taller sweep second movement.
