So, I was going through an old crowns box when I noticed something "estrange" in a Constellation crown, inside the Omega logo there was this small three pointed star.
Upon doing some research I found out that people referred to them as "Mercedes" crowns and also thanks to some posts in this forum I learned they're actually called NAIAD crowns.
I've read someone say that they were used for several Omega models (Including Constellation) but when I tried to search online for another one similar to the one I have, I had no luck. So my question is: are this crown something "rare"? Also I would love to hear some more information as to why they started (and why they stopped) using this NAIAD logo in the Omega crowns.

Here are some pictures of my crown:

I seem to recall they where used on watches with the niad lock case back. Late 40 through 50's I think.

The NAIAD crowns were also used on the earlier Seamaster 300m ref 165.024 and 166.024 but I believe they were discontinued in favour of a screw down crown due to leakage problems at shallow depths. There's a great thread on these here, but frustratingly it only shows a service NAIAD crown head on and an original from the side so no way to tell if the three pointed star was present.

Yes, I've seen pictures of Seamaster and Speedmaster NAIAD crowns but not for Constellations, that's why I was wondering if someone knows anything about Constellation NAIAD crowns.

They can be found on constellations with the Naiad case. Multiple references for this via google search.

Interesting, never new this existed until reviewing this thread. Is there an addition in value if you come across this type of crown? Very cool non the less.

After doing some research and a lot of asking around that does seem to be the case, they're scarce and collectors often search for them add some "uniqueness" to their watches.

Ha! I always thought it mine was just a damaged crown, but looking at it through a macro lens I'm now thinking it's a damaged Naiad crown. Cool! IMG_9377.JPG

Just revising this thread - I have found this crown with the same Mercedes like star in the centre - what model could this one have come from? It’s not quite like the ones listed above:

I'm pleased to see this thread as I have one of these crowns!
I only noticed it a few days ago even though I've had the Seamaster for some time. Here's a photo.

I had many watches with naiad crown.

Just one example for this hobnail constellation comes with the NOS original “thick decagonal naiad” crown.
