Hmmmm...I'm worried that the protruding Omega symbol on the clasp will catch on stuff....does anyone have a profile view of the clasp on the bracelet?

Yes, unless we have it shipped to a state in which there isn't an OB

i was concerned more with duty. am i correct in assuming that the VAT will be backed out from the UK price and i will be charged duty if it comes into the US? i have bought watches from overseas before, but from ebay, not from an AD. curious how this all goes down.

If this is anything like the bracelet on the SM300 MC, the top link connecting to the clasp is actually part of the clasp mechanism and does not pivot down, thereby making it hard to hang out and snag onto something.

When my local AD confirmed my Speedmaster reservation on Monday they told me the price is £5300.00 with delivery at the end of May.
Woops, that is about 6 100 eur vat inclusive. And should be around 15% cheaper then in the continental part. It seams not fair, right? OMEXIT?

Well, the US OBs are asking for over 6700 Euros after conversion, not including sales tax which would make it around 7300 Euros. Plus they require a 100% payment. Tell me if that sound fair.

You should be qualified for having an oil refinery in the back yard? Without VAT European price would be around 5 700 eur if we are to compare net prices Europe is cheaper than US. I will rest assured now that there are others in worse situation...🍿

As I understand it some retailers in the UK and EU are setup to sell internationally and can remove VAT at the point of sale. In other cases, you might be able to apply to have the VAT reimbursed later if it is clearly shown on the invoice. Taxes at your end are your problem, but may be administratively dealt with by commercial shipping agents such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.

That pisses me off because Omega in the US is charging way more than the CHF-->USD conversion rate and is quite evident with your quoted GBP rate. And to top it off, the US (and CAN) are the only ones requiring a 100% deposit.

Two words my friend: import duties.

More to it than just the exchange rate.

Really want the chrono speedy but anyone afraid it might actually be too small?
Maybe heresy to say this but that is my main worry and I don't have giant wrist. My 39ish GS feels right but the height is a bit too much so I am thinking that the 39mm diameter w the thinner case will help.
Also tempted by the autavia but the pancake thickness at almost 16mm seems way too much.

Depends on your tolerance. I have watches that vary from 32mm, up to 41mm, and the thickness or height can vary as well. Like them all.

If a mm or two is likely to throw you off your mark, best to try it on first. But will agree that a 16mm height does seem significant.

i wouldnt worry about the thickness. from the profile shots ive seen it looks very balanced.
