Congrats. I guess in most cases genuine vintage beats faux vintage. 😀

The vintage Railmaster is my favorite 3-hand watch design, and while the new one would have been totally awesome, it's not quite the same being automatic and without the recessed lume plots. So when I had the opportunity to grab this one, I went for it 😀

Wow -- which reference is that? Is it the CK2914-1 Pakistani Air Force version? Have never seen one before.

It is a PAF, and I think those were all 2914-5s.

I recently joined the club. Taking the Seamaster quite far from it's habitat 😉

I am really tempted to get one. I bet it would look amazing with a NATO black or grey strap.

The one it comes with is beige. Debating a 19mm Tropic.

I ordered a tropic for mine, though haven’t tried it on yet. Synchron, who own Doxa, Aquadive and Isofrane recently brought out a line of vintage tropics and I couldn’t resist. Will have to check width but they seem well-made.

Sure. Here’s the website and a review. Not sure if they’re still doing the preorder pricing — think I paid around 70.00. They’re 20mm but I was told it would on 19mm lugs (note: I cant confirm this):

This was posted awhile back. The 20mm seems to fit the Seamaster just fine. I’m waiting for a shorter version, though.

Or I’m debating whether to get one from watchgecko but not sure if it would fit 19mm lugs. Anyone got one of these? >>(https://www.watchgecko.com/vintage-tropical-style-rubber-watch-strap-by-zuludiver)

180 pages and heading toward three years for this thread proves there's a whole lot of love for these '57 Trilogy LE's. Toward the early days of this conversation the 557 sets were thrashed a bit due to the addition of 'Trilogy XXX' on the dial. Now that some time has past, I'd be interested if any of the sentiment has shifted?

I've been on the hunt, and the idea of having all three, numbers matching, is appealing on some level. Then again, the whole intent to this release was to stay as true, aesthetically, as possible to the original '57 release. So, I keep finding myself leaning one way one moment, then listing the other the next...quite frankly, I'm getting a little sea sick, so I figured I'd ask if the sentiments have remained the same or have they evolved over time in respect to the additional text on the dial.

Cheers!

I would have preferred not to have the edition number on the dial but if I wanted a set it would not have been a deal breaker. I see some sets have been broken up and watches sold separately, that's a complete turn off.

Wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me, but I'm very happy with the non-text version I own. I tend not to notice the text if the dial is well-done (looking at you, Tudor Pelagos and assorted Rolexes).

Good luck with hunt

I got all three from an OB but not as a set. Separately but simultaneously. Since intention was to wear.

In-hand the extra text is more subtle than in blow-up photos.

Indeed, time has passed... After 2 years, I can say that I am still very pleased with my home-made #12 set 😀.

I enjoy wearing each of them on a very regular basis. And they clearly get more wrist time than the average, especially the Speedmaster and the Railmaster.
