Satisfying my obsession to find a strap that perfectly matches the color of the vintage/patinated lume plots, i'm really happy with this custom hand-made CORK strap that works very well....

Just got a call from my AD that a speedmaster 60th popped up. Everyone on queue wasn’t able to come pick it up and somehow i got called.

I thought these babies were all accounted for and all sold out?

So happened there was a Railmaster launch when I picked it up.

Got number 2988/3557 which is brilliant (in an Asian way)

Brought my 3594.50 (the pretender?) along

I love the 60th. Not so much the price as many actually mistook my 3594.50 as the 60th and irs at 1/3 the price!! But those who know, knows.

This week I took a small watch-focused vacation trip to Philadelphia. The primary purpose was to visit RGM in Mount Joy to see their 801-COE "Corps of Engineers" watch in the flesh.

Of course, I also had to visit the local multiple ADs in the area. To my surprise, one had the Trilogy 300 Seamaster and another had the Trilogy Railmaster:

I arrived back home to Boston this morning and had to visit the ADs in the area. One had both in their display case:

If you are interested in acquiring one of these beauties, please send me a PM and I will provide you with the details. HAGWE!

I was surprised to see the 60th seamaster at a OB here in Los Angeles. Not one but two. I guess not as popular or Omega just made too many?

Tried it on and not for me. I guess I am not much into that vintage look. I’ll stick with my 2201.50.

Yes, that’s correct, the minute hand has the arrow instead, probably a good idea since it’s easier to spot that way and I’d imagine you’d deal more in terms of minutes vs. hours when sport diving. Also, the second hand is white (some had a luminous tipped second hand like the 1960s Speedy), and the bezel counts elapsed time instead of countdown. All these were changes made to the SM300 after 1960.

Here is an interesting article about the various changes made to the SM300, you can definitely see where the Planet Ocean got it’s looks from (1969)...

Thanks for the link! Nice heritage piece!

My guess is on Omega distribution issues. It is happening not only on this Trilogy whether individually or as a set but also on other models, notably the Speedy Tuesday. But I believe a strong product will definitely be sold out in the next few months.

Btw, my AD advised me that my RM will be in next month. (Perhaps Omega had issues on its distribution.) Pretty excited to eventually complete this Trilogy soon. Thanks for those offering to connect me to their ADs!

Railmasters are in the window of at least 2 AD’s near me. Seems these were not all sold. I think part of the issue is price. I love the watch, but it’s at the top end when competing vs the Rolex Explorer and you can get the regular railmaster with the same movement for £1.5k less.

Unsurprisingly there are few seamasters and very few speedies doing the rounds. I guess this is because the non watch crowd will recognise these names and the history.

I suspect we’ll see them discounted soon enough to shift them....

I wonder if people are actually wearing their Trilogy 3-piece set pieces, I’ve not seen many photos of those on the wrist

I'm far from made of money. If had the resources of some of the people on watch forums in general, I'd have all three of these and be happy. Instead I have none of them. I love that Speedy 60th but I already have a moon watch and the Speedmaster 57 broad arrow co-axial. I love that watch, too. I'm not interested in getting rid of either of those watches, so it makes it basically impossible for me to justify dropping $7K-plus on the 60th, which combines the movement of my moon watch with the 60th's original design that inspired my '57. If the 60th were priced the same as the regular Speedmaster Pro, it would be a different story--or I would at least seriously entertain the notion of getting one. But that $2K markup? I just couldn't get past it. At this point, I'm actually fighting the urge to grab a Railmaster while they are still available; I've seen reliable sellers around these parts offering them for hundreds less than MSRP. If my tax refund was bigger, I would grab one today LOL

Yes, I think at a discount the railmaster is a great watch. Here in the uk they trade above list Pre owned but that will likely change. That said, I have no regrets paying the markup for the speedy. It’s a great watch, and ticks many boxes that prior speedies that I have owned didn’t.

At uk prices, a railmaster trades 250 quid above a Rolex explorer and only 400 below a submariner. I know the issues around Rolex supply, but I suspect that’s why they are still in the windows here esp when omega seem to do some tremendous value pieces.

Oh, and good luck with the refund. Mine always seem to be the other way!

I think had Omega priced these at RM £4k, SM £4.5k, SpM £5k there wouldn’t be a single one left anywhere but as it is, all 3 look expensive with the RM with its minimalist look seeming at first glance the most expensive of the 3, relatively speaking. In terms of resale, it does seem the RM which falls the furthest from its RRP and indeed is the only one now to be seen popping up in dealer windows occasionally.

Agreed. I have seen a RM at 4K on eBay and at that price I think it’s a great deal.

I wonder if anyone has the data on what the originals were priced at back in 1957-58. My gut says the difference may have been even more pronounced than that I postulate above but would love to know what the original pricing structure was if anyone could oblige. I guess it is perfectly possible that the SM300 was the most expensive of the 3 due to the challenges of making it properly waterproof (which with the niaid crown they were only partly successful).

The fact I get one probably illustrates the point that I don’t make the kind of money some of you guys do LOL

Hi guys - has anyone had issues getting a decent fit on the speedy bracelet? I was wearing it fairly loose which was ok but the watch head moved about quite a lot and the bracelet moved fairly easily up and down the arm. Decided to have a link out and then use the micro adjust, but now it is fairly tight with little wiggle room if the weather warms up. Considering the bulk of the clasp, the micro adjust is fairly pathetic at about 3mm and doesn’t appear to be even a half link. Does anyone know if omega do half links for this bracelet as none come on the original. Cheers, Steve
