Picked up my 60th anniversary Seamaster 300 last Sunday at Chicago Boutique. I was surprised when I opened the watch roll to find that my extra straps were the black leather and the beige/tan nato. I was curious if anyone else has received different straps than the "expected" ones. I was under the impression that the Railmaster came with these straps, and the Seamaster came with a dark brown nato and brown leather. Either way I am pleased as punch.

Given that the watch arrives at the OB in a plastic container rather than inside the box, there's a good chance they mixed it up. If you want the straps you were meant to get, go back and ask to swap the roll (or even just the straps, everything else should be exactly the same).

Correct; those straps are for the Railmaster. Looks like they put the wrong roll in the box. Maybe you will get lucky and Omega will send you the correct ones....in addition .

I kind of like the idea of being special.😀 Also I didn't have any black leather straps so it worked out.

Except it might be an issue for the other "guy".

While waiting at the OB for my watch to be adjusted, I snapped this picture of the RM-relevant pages of the book "Omega - a Journey Through Time." Not much info, but a couple of nice vintage ads. I thought it might be of interest here.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen another of the first gen Railmasters before! How cool!

The speedmasters have also arrived in Belgium. I just picked mine up at my AD. Fantastic watch!

That's great news! Which AD did you order yours at? I just got a message from my AD that one is gone and next one is mine! Looking forward to it.

Vercammen in Heist od Berg. So I might be the one that is gone 😉. But trust me, the watch is worth the wait.

PSA to those who might like to clean the casebacks of their new watches:
I think the caseback engraving process leaves a slight burr or sharp edge in the engraving features. I could feel this as it will slightly catch a cloth or fingertip if you pass across the hippocampus logo.
Today I was using a Moonglow cloth to clean the caseback, and I guess some of the small metal burr particles broke free and caused hairline scratches in the mirror finish caseback.
Unfortunate, as the first scratches after three days of wear, are from trying to clean the watch...oh well!

Not encouraging - how would one avoid this?

All,

Just got a call from the King of Prussia OB. I had originally ordered a SM 300 in May but changed to the Speedmaster about a month and a half ago. They apparently did not cancel the order and it just came in. I don't know if they had waiting list but if you want a SM you might want to give them a call.

There is a Railmaster on the forums right now for sale at a reasonable price. Sorry if this was mentioned already.

Our Boutique just received a 60th Anniversary Trilogy Seamaster 300 in 39.5mm. I didn't think I'd like the smaller size considering I wear a 45.5 PO but I must admit that it sits well on the wrist. It's the first Seamaster 300 to get the 8806 Master Chronometer calibre. They also added some nice touches over the current 300 such as a slightly darker brown lume that matches the supplied leather strap. Just loving the vintage look!

No sweat, the scratches and roughness disappear with the lightest of repolishes.

I picked mine up yesterday and wore it carefully for a day as delivered "steel on steel".
The biggest issue for me was the weight with the bracelet.
I always thought of the 2913 as really a very light watch ; certainly no hunk-of-steel Submariner.
So I swapped it on to the dark brown leather strap that Omega provided.
It is a really nice strap, totally vintage appropriate and very soft, with a sueded matte finish.
Now it feels just perfect on the wrist.

Clearly you have never worn a watch that really is a hunk of steel.

You can leave the protective sticker that comes with the watch or buy spare ones. Not as beautiful as the nude caseback, but quite good looking and really effective. Anyway, remember you won't be looking at the case back all the time, so don't worry about natural ageing of the watch.

I’ve left the sticker in place under the NATO since buying. Seems fine so far.
